According to the Vietnam Road Administration, for vehicles without input information in the system, a one-time toll payment (OTC) transaction will be generated at the exit toll lanes of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway. If a vehicle has input information but after approximately 3 hours (or depending on actual conditions) no output data is recorded, the system will automatically calculate and collect the toll at the exit point determined at the interchange connecting to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway.
To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, the Vietnam Expressway Investment and Development Corporation (VEC) has been tasked with organizing traffic guidance and arranging separate toll lanes for vehicles exiting the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and entering the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.

Previously, on May 18th, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway (54 km long) was officially opened to traffic along its entire length after component project 1 was approved for temporary operation. In the initial phase, the route will only serve cars with fewer than 9 seats at speeds of 60-80 km/h. The opening of the Long Thanh interchange and the implementation of this plan will make it much easier for people from Ho Chi Minh City to access the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway, overcoming the previous inconvenience when the Bung Mon interchange was closed and vehicles from Dong Nai could only access it from the Vo Nguyen Giap interchange.
Besides the plan to reorganize the toll stations in the South, the Vietnam Road Administration has also submitted to the Ministry of Construction a toll collection plan for 13 component projects of the North-South Expressway in the 2021-2025 period. The toll rate will be calculated based on the actual distance traveled by the vehicle.
Specifically, 12 sections of the route are proposed to have a minimum toll of 900 VND/km, including: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang, Vung Ang - Bung, Bung - Van Ninh, Van Ninh - Cam Lo, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon - Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh, Chi Thanh - Van Phong, Van Phong - Nha Trang, Can Tho - Hau Giang, and Hau Giang - Ca Mau . The reason for this price is that the routes are built with 4 lanes, with intermittent emergency stopping lanes, and do not fully meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Law.
Specifically, the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan expressway is subject to a toll of 1,300 VND/km because it meets the standard of 4 lanes and has a continuous emergency stopping lane.
Regarding the categories of vehicles subject to tolls, the rates will vary depending on the vehicle group: Group 1 (lowest) includes cars with fewer than 12 seats, trucks under 2 tons, and public buses; while Group 5 (highest) applies to trucks weighing 18 tons or more and 40-foot container trucks.
Currently, the aforementioned sections of the North-South expressway have been opened to traffic and put into operation, but toll collection has not yet begun. The project management boards have completed the investment and construction of the electronic toll collection (ETC) system on each section of the route...
