The easily recognizable culture of Thai Nguyen is the harmonious crystallization of tradition and modernity, of historical depth and folk cultural values. Thai Nguyen is both the core area of ​​the Viet Bac region and the gateway connecting the Viet Bac provinces with the capital Hanoi. Geographical factors and administrative boundaries have created a land rich in identity, with unique customs, practices, festivals, cuisine and folk arts, becoming a typical cultural symbol of Thai Nguyen.

In the integration period, it is inevitable that many different cultural trends penetrate the spiritual life of the people. Especially in the digital age, the convenience of information technology unintentionally becomes a bridge for some foreign cultural elements to enter, while also containing toxic cultural currents. If not prevented in time, these factors can "fester into boils", seriously affecting the fine traditional cultural identity of the nation.

To absorb the quintessence of human culture and at the same time promptly prevent harmful cultural flows, not allowing negative elements to penetrate the spiritual life of the people, Thai Nguyen province always focuses on ideological and cultural work.

Through festival activities, many cultural beauties of Thai Nguyen ethnic groups are restored, preserved and become attractive tourism products.

Relevant levels and sectors actively organize many propaganda activities to inform people about the Party's innovation policy, the State's policies and laws; at the same time, educate civilized lifestyles, promote traditional ethical standards. The goal is to build Thai Nguyen people with comprehensive development in knowledge, personality, culture and compassion.

The staff, civil servants, public employees and workers in the cultural sector are the ones directly involved. Although the two provinces of Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan have just merged and been in operation for nearly 2 months, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has implemented many practical activities, such as issuing directives and instructions to orient people's thoughts, lifestyles and personalities in the new era.

These efforts not only raise people's awareness but also are an important solution to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, contributing to building a sustainable and cohesive society on the basis of national cultural identity.

Currently, the whole province has 77 communes, 15 wards with nearly 1.8 million people. There are about 50 different ethnic groups living together in the province, of which 8 ethnic groups are the majority, including: Kinh, Tay, Nung, San Diu, Mong, Dao, San Chay and Hoa. Most of the ethnic groups have gone through a long and arduous journey and settled for a long time in Thai Nguyen.

Despite many ups and downs in the history of migration, unique customs and practices with distinct characteristics of each ethnic group are still preserved and promoted, never forgotten.

Each generation follows the example of the previous generation, like layers of alluvium that build up the cultural "field", from the sweet lullabies of mothers during childhood, to the stories told by the elderly by the fireside in their stilt houses on long nights, or the leisurely moments after a day spent in the fields.

All are connected to form a lasting source, nurturing the soul and preserving the identity of the community. Each ethnic group has its own unique cultural beauty, creating diversity and richness, while preserving the common spirit of the Viet Bac mountains and forests.

A unique point is that in the province, there seems to be no hamlet or village where only one ethnic group lives. In this interwoven living environment, each ethnic group values, preserves and passes on the rich cultural identity of their ethnic group to the next generation.

Typically, the colors on the brocade background of each ethnic group; the melodies of songs and dances; traditional festivals; especially the language and writing are always considered as evidence affirming the existence and development of ethnic people.

In order to preserve and spread positive cultural values ​​in the community, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues to strengthen coordination with authorities at all levels, issue guiding documents and mobilize people to participate in patriotic emulation movements in the locality, such as: "All people unite to build a cultural life", "Building cultural families, cultural residential areas" and "Building new rural areas, civilized urban areas".

These activities not only guide a healthy lifestyle but also arouse self-awareness, awareness of preserving and promoting the cultural identity of each citizen.

Looking back over the past 5 years, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces have made great efforts to preserve and promote the values ​​of national cultural identity. Specifically, activities to encourage ethnic minority communities to preserve their unique cultural traditions have been widely implemented; mass cultural and artistic performances have been organized, creating opportunities for folk artists to showcase their own cultural beauty.

The two provinces have also built about 100 cultural and artistic model points and cultural houses, becoming typical examples of cultural and artistic activities in the area.

By attaching importance to ideological and cultural work, Thai Nguyen has created a stable social environment. People in remote, mountainous areas and ethnic minorities are more aware of preserving and protecting their cultural identity.

In particular, through the propaganda of cultural workers, people of all ethnic groups are provided with additional knowledge to identify unhealthy cultural trends, thereby having enough resistance and immunity to harmful cultural flows to preserve the unique cultural identity of their people.
