What makes Thai Nguyen culture easily recognizable is the harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, of a rich history and folk cultural values. Thai Nguyen is both the core of the Viet Bac region and a gateway connecting the Viet Bac provinces to the capital city of Hanoi. Its geographical location and administrative boundaries have created a land rich in identity, with unique customs, traditions, festivals, cuisine , and folk art, becoming distinctive cultural symbols of Thai Nguyen.

In the era of globalization, it is inevitable that various cultural trends will infiltrate the spiritual lives of the people. Especially in the digital age, the convenience of information technology has inadvertently become a bridge for the influx of certain foreign cultural elements, while also harboring harmful cultural influences. If not promptly prevented, these elements can "fester like a cancerous tumor," seriously affecting the nation's beautiful traditional cultural identity.

In order to absorb the finest aspects of human culture while promptly preventing harmful cultural influences and avoiding negative elements from infiltrating the spiritual life of the people, Thai Nguyen province always prioritizes ideological and cultural work.

Through festival activities, many beautiful cultural features of the ethnic groups in Thai Nguyen are restored, preserved, and become attractive products for tourism.

Relevant levels and sectors actively organize numerous activities to disseminate information to the people about the Party's reform policies and the State's laws and regulations; at the same time, they educate people on civilized lifestyles and promote traditional moral standards. The goal is to build well-rounded individuals in Thai Nguyen, developing their knowledge, character, culture, and compassion.

The staff, officials, and workers in the cultural sector are the ones directly involved. Despite only recently merging the two provinces of Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan and operating for nearly two months, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has implemented many practical activities, such as issuing directives and guidelines to shape the thoughts, lifestyles, and character of people in the new era.

These efforts both raise public awareness and are important solutions for preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, contributing to building a sustainable and cohesive society based on national cultural identity.

Currently, the province has 77 communes and 15 wards with nearly 1.8 million inhabitants. Approximately 50 different ethnic groups live together in the province, with eight being the most numerous: Kinh, Tay, Nung, San Diu, Mong, Dao, San Chay, and Hoa. Most of these ethnic groups have undergone a long and arduous journey and have settled permanently in Thai Nguyen province.

Despite experiencing many ups and downs in their migration history, the unique customs and traditions of each ethnic group have been preserved and promoted, never to be forgotten.

Each generation follows the example of the previous one, like layers of alluvial soil building up the "field" of culture, from the sweet lullabies of mothers in their childhood, to the stories told by the elderly by the fireplace in stilt houses on long nights, or during moments of leisure after a day working in the fields.

All these elements connect to form a continuous source, nurturing the soul and preserving the identity of the community. Each ethnic group possesses its own unique cultural beauty, creating diversity and richness while maintaining the shared spirit of the Viet Bac mountains and forests.

A unique feature is that within the province, there seems to be no village or hamlet inhabited solely by a single ethnic group. Despite the intermingling of these ethnic groups, each values, preserves, and passes on the rich cultural identity of their own people to future generations.

Typical examples include the vibrant colors on the brocade fabrics of each ethnic group; the melodies of songs and dances; traditional festivals; and most notably, the spoken and written languages, which are always considered evidence affirming the existence and development of the ethnic communities.

In order to preserve and spread positive cultural values in the community, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continues to strengthen coordination with authorities at all levels, issue guiding documents and mobilize people to participate in patriotic emulation movements in the locality, such as: "All people unite to build a cultured life", "Building cultured families and cultured residential areas" and "Building new rural areas and civilized urban areas".

These activities not only promote a healthy lifestyle but also foster a sense of self-awareness and a commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of each citizen.

Looking back over the past five years, the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen and Bac Kan provinces have made efforts in preserving, conserving, and promoting the value of ethnic cultural identity. Specifically, activities encouraging ethnic minority communities to preserve their distinctive cultural traditions have been widely implemented; mass cultural and artistic performances have been organized, creating opportunities for folk artisans to showcase the unique cultural beauty of their ethnic groups.

The two provinces have also built approximately 100 model cultural and artistic sites and community centers, which have become exemplary models in cultural and artistic activities in the area.

By prioritizing ideological and cultural work, Thai Nguyen has created a stable social environment. People in mountainous, remote, and disadvantaged areas, as well as ethnic minorities, have become more conscious of preserving and protecting their cultural identity.

In particular, through the propaganda efforts of cultural workers, ethnic minority communities gain knowledge to identify unhealthy cultural trends, thereby developing sufficient resistance and immunity against harmful cultural influences to preserve the unique cultural identity of their ethnic groups.
