Share a 1K VND meal

Since March 2025, every Sunday, Mr. Tanh and members of the Provincial Youth Union's grassroots organization have maintained the "1,000 VND Meal" program at hospitals in Rach Gia ward, contributing to supporting patients and vulnerable people. To date, this practical model has implemented and donated more than 2,000 meals directly to poor laborers, patients with difficult circumstances, relatives, and patients undergoing treatment at Kien Giang Oncology Hospital and Kien Giang Traditional Medicine Hospital. Through this model, not only are practical meals provided, helping to alleviate the burden of living expenses for beneficiaries, but it also strongly spreads the message of compassion in the community: "Giving is not just about food, but also about sharing and faith in life."

The initiative attracted the active participation of over 200 youth union members and numerous benefactors. Each meal costs only 1,000 VND, but the value given is priceless. It brings smiles and warmth during these difficult times. Mr. Tanh shared: “I always want to realize meaningful activities to support the community, especially those in difficult circumstances. The “1K Meal” model was created to share the burden of living expenses with patients and their families in hospitals who are facing financial difficulties during inpatient treatment. For just 1,000 VND, patients and their families can receive a nutritious meal, which can somewhat motivate them during their treatment.”

Responsibility to the community

As the successor and head of the Kien Giang Blood Bank Club since 2022, Mr. Tanh has maintained and developed the club, promoting the significance of voluntary blood donation on social media. Through these activities, over 20,000 members and young people have been informed about voluntary blood donation. Mr. Tanh always believes that the voluntary blood donation movement should not just be a slogan but should become an action, a responsibility of every young person. Mr. Tanh boldly applies science and technology to improve the quality of communication and attract volunteers by creating QR codes on posters, keychains, etc.

Members and young people can easily scan the QR code with their smartphones to learn more about the programs and activities of the Kien Giang Blood Bank Club. At the same time, the club is doing a good job of updating members' personal information so that they can be contacted when necessary, ensuring the health of blood donors and the quality of donated blood for recipients. Currently, the club has over 1,000 regular blood donors.

Mr. Tanh shared: “I always remember Uncle Ho's teachings: 'Whatever is beneficial to the people, we must do our utmost to do. Whatever is harmful to the people, we must do our utmost to avoid,' 'A living example is worth more than a hundred propaganda speeches,' 'Nothing is small if we do it with all our heart'...". Therefore, Mr. Tanh always strives to do small things that benefit the community. The "1K meal" helps those in difficult circumstances to have enough to eat; each drop of volunteer blood helps save a life – these are concrete, silent, persistent, but practical actions that spread love, and this is how Mr. Tanh sincerely learns and follows Uncle Ho's teachings. In 2025, Mr. Tanh also launched the activity "Giving gifts to sanitation workers and lottery ticket vendors in difficult circumstances on New Year's Eve," which was enthusiastically supported and participated in by many youth union members. The event took place on New Year's Eve and distributed over 200 gifts, including essential goods, Tet gifts, and lucky money envelopes, directly to hardworking laborers, street sweepers, lottery ticket vendors, and homeless people who are still struggling to make a living.

Through each model and activity, with such practical methods, Mr. Tanh contributes to spreading the spirit of mutual support and compassion among union members and young people. At the same time, he strengthens solidarity in the community and contributes to raising each individual's awareness of their responsibility to society.
