Bui Hoang Viet Anh's contract with Hanoi FC will expire after the 2023/2024 season. The capital city team wants to retain the key player, but contract negotiations have not gone smoothly.
At this point, no agreement has been reached between the two parties. Bui Hoang Viet Anh prefers to stay at Hanoi FC - the club that trained him - but the central defender has demands regarding personal terms.
Viet Anh was loaned by Hanoi FC to play in Ha Tinh for 3 seasons before returning to the capital city team in 2020. He played 67 matches in 4 seasons in the V-League and scored 6 goals.
Bui Hoang Viet Anh won the National Cup and V-League titles with Hanoi FC. During this time, the 1999-born central defender also performed outstandingly for the national team and the Vietnam U23 team.
Bui Hoang Viet Anh may leave Hanoi FC.
His height of 1.81m and impressive footwork set him apart from many other center-backs in the V-League. If Bui Hoang Viet Anh cannot be retained, coach Bozidar Bandovic will have to consider using more young players such as Vu Tien Long, Nguyen Duc Anh, or Vu Van Son. The regular center-back pairing for the Hanoi team will be Do Duy Manh and Nguyen Thanh Chung.
In the 2023 season, whenever the domestic center-backs were unavailable, Bandovic would prioritize Marcao in that position. The Brazilian midfielder met the professional requirements well, but he wasn't a long-term solution. Every time Marcao played center-back, the defensive capabilities of Hanoi FC's midfield significantly decreased.
Conversely, Hanoi FC could sign two players from Song Lam Nghe An : goalkeeper Nguyen Van Hoang and midfielder Pham Xuan Manh. Van Hoang would replace Van Cong, whose contract expires and who will leave at the end of this season.
