Ke Ga Lighthouse

The Kê Gà Lighthouse is located at Kê Gà Cape, in Tân Thành commune, Hàm Thuận Nam district, Bình Thuận province. It serves as a navigational lighthouse for ships in the area and has been recognized by the Vietnam Book of Records as the tallest and oldest lighthouse in Vietnam.

A beacon for mariners, Ke Ga Lighthouse is Vietnam's tallest lighthouse. Designed by French engineer Chnavat, construction of the lighthouse on Hon Ba Island began in February 1897 and was completed in late 1898. It commenced operations in 1900. Built upon the natural rock formation of Hon Ba Island, the granite lighthouse ascends 35 meters, towering 65 meters above the sea. Its powerful 2000-watt bulb illuminates the sea up to 40 kilometers away. A winding staircase of 183 steel steps leads to the lighthouse's summit, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Ke Ga Lighthouse, located in Ham Thuan Nam commune, is the tallest and oldest lighthouse in Vietnam. It is situated 32km from Phan Thiet city and was designed by the French engineer Chnavat. Construction on Hon Ba Island began in February 1897 and was completed at the end of 1898, becoming operational in 1900. The lighthouse tower is 35 meters high, perched on the natural rock of Hon Ba Island, rising 65 meters above sea level. Its 2000-watt light illuminates the sea at a distance of 40km. A spiral staircase with 183 steps leads to the top of the tower, offering stunning panoramic views. Day and night, the lighthouse stands like a silent sentinel, guiding ships through the waters of Phan Thiet Bay.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and Vietnam Television, organized this event . The aim was to continue introducing and promoting the image of Vietnam, its people, cultural values, and natural beauty throughout the country; to awaken national pride and self-respect, and to inspire a desire for development among all segments of the Vietnamese population, so that they can work together to build a more prosperous, thriving, and happy Vietnam.

Submission deadline: From May 22, 2025 to September 30, 2025. Entries can be submitted online at : https://happy.vietnam.vn  

Eligible participants: Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and above.

The awards consist of two categories: photos and videos.

Each competition category (photos and videos) will have one First Prize worth VND 50,000,000, two Second Prizes worth VND 30,000,000, three Third Prizes worth VND 15,000,000, ten Consolation Prizes worth VND 5,000,000, and one Most Voted Award worth VND 5,000,000.

The organizers encourage and will award a creative prize of VND 20,000,000 in each category (photos and videos) to works with new and creative ideas in terms of content and presentation.

In addition, the organizing committee will award monthly prizes, including first, second, and third prizes, to the works with the highest number of votes in each category each month.

The judging panel selected the winners through two rounds of preliminary and final judging, conducted both online and in person.
