The Great Unity Train
This year's voyage is themed "The Journey of Great Unity," with the participation of over 60 overseas Vietnamese delegates from 24 countries and territories. According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, this is a meaningful and humane activity, a voyage that affirms patriotism and connects the Vietnamese community worldwide with their homeland, Vietnam. "Only when I set foot on Truong Sa, and witnessed firsthand the silent efforts and sacrifices of the soldiers and civilians on the remote islands, did I truly feel the sacred meaning of the Fatherland," Mr. Kien shared.
As one of the overseas Vietnamese delegates returning from Poland to participate in the voyage, Mr. Hoang Xuan Binh said: “I feel extremely moved and proud to participate in the program. Through this trip, I clearly feel the hardships, difficulties, and unwavering will of the officers and soldiers who are protecting the sea and islands day and night. The trip helped me realize that Truong Sa is not far away; Truong Sa is always in the heart of every Vietnamese person.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, an overseas Vietnamese residing in Cambodia, deeply felt the strong bond of the Vietnamese community abroad globally through this sea voyage. He shared: "The voyage helped me feel the solidarity and connection of overseas Vietnamese all over the world." According to him, the overseas Vietnamese delegates all share a common belief and intense love for their homeland, especially for the sea and islands of their country.
According to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, during this voyage, overseas Vietnamese donated more than 2 billion VND in cash, gifts, and in-kind contributions to programs such as greening Truong Sa, building multi-functional cultural centers, purchasing necessities, medical equipment, and school supplies for officers, soldiers, and people on the islands and the DK-I platform.
The program to bring overseas Vietnamese to visit Truong Sa has been held annually since 2012, providing an opportunity for them to witness firsthand the lives and work of the officers, soldiers, and people of Truong Sa island district; to interact, chat, visit, and encourage the officers and soldiers. It is also an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to express their love and responsibility towards the sea and islands of their homeland. Through this, it actively contributes to helping overseas Vietnamese understand the policies and guidelines of the Party and State, and the practical work of defending the sovereignty of the nation's sea and islands.
Unwavering loyalty and devotion
Returning to Sinh Ton Island after 10 years, Ms. Truong Thi Hong, a Vietnamese expatriate in Israel, could not hide her emotion at the changes on the island. She shared: “I am moved to see that the lives of the officers and soldiers on the island have improved so much, and the structures on the island are more solid and stable.” Compared to the past, Ms. Hong noticed that the green of the trees has spread everywhere, reflecting development, prosperity, and the determination of the Party and the State in their efforts.

Expressing her pride at being able to set foot on islands under Vietnamese sovereignty, Ms. Cao Ha Linh, a Vietnamese expatriate in Singapore, said: “I truly feel fortunate, moved, and proud that our country has people who are tirelessly defending the islands and upholding the sovereignty of our homeland.” She said she would actively spread information about Truong Sa and this journey to the Vietnamese community in Singapore, especially the younger generation, to inspire love for their homeland.
The love for the homeland of overseas Vietnamese is not just limited to emotions but is also expressed through concrete actions. From 2012 to the present, the total amount of money donated by overseas Vietnamese to Truong Sa and the DK-I platform has reached nearly 30 billion VND, which has been used to build sovereignty boats, construct public works, and purchase gifts and necessities to send to the island outposts.
Furthermore, overseas Vietnamese also express their affection through writing poetry, prose, and short stories about the homeland's islands and seas, and establishing Hoang Sa Truong Sa Clubs in France, Singapore, South Korea, Poland, etc. They also actively research new methods and inventions to improve the lives of officers and soldiers on the islands, and regularly organize seminars and exhibitions to affirm their love for the country, contributing to the strong dissemination of information about Vietnam's sovereignty over its islands and seas to the overseas Vietnamese community and the international community.
