The Deo But Tunnel is one of the important components and the only road tunnel xuyên núi (through the mountain) of the North-South Expressway in the East, passing through Ha Tinh province. After nearly 10 months of construction, the first tunnel branch has now been opened.
But Pass is a key highlight of the Vung Ang - Bung expressway component project. It is also the only road tunnel along the more than 102 km long North-South expressway in the East, passing through Ha Tinh province.
The project is designed with two tunnels, left and right, with lengths of 716 m and 840 m respectively. Each tunnel is 8 m high and 15 m wide, with 3 lanes of traffic.
Branch 1 of the Deo But tunnel is now open.
Construction in hilly terrain is already difficult, but projects located deep underground with loose geology and high groundwater levels present even greater challenges.
Given the importance and large volume of work, the construction unit concentrated its resources and personnel, working overtime and rotating shifts continuously to ensure the drills steadily penetrated deep into the mountain.
Tunnel No. 2 is expected to be connected in just over a month.
After more than 10 months of construction, this tunnel has been completed. The left tunnel section, with approximately 150 meters remaining, is expected to be connected in another month.
The construction package for the Vung Ang – Bung expressway, spanning over 12.9 km, passes through Ky Anh district and Ky Anh town. Construction began in early 2023, and the Vung Ang - Bung section of the expressway is now gradually taking shape.
The completion of the But Pass tunnel branch ahead of schedule will be a crucial driving force for the entire project to reach completion in June 2025, six months ahead of the original plan. Upon completion, this will be a highway with many highlights in terms of landscape and transportation architecture.
