Kodak, the American camera company founded in 1888, has launched new blind boxes to honor its first single-shot camera, which was introduced in 1987. Each Kodak Charmera box randomly opens to reveal a miniature digital camera that can be hung on a keychain.
Instead of using 110 film rolls like the original disposable camera, Kodak Charmera uses microSD cards to store both photos and videos . This product is released by Reto under a licensing agreement with Kodak, with 7 versions such as classic gold, red, gray, geometric white, black rainbow, blue and a special version with a transparent plastic case.
All camera models are made of plastic, measure 58 x 24.5 x 20 mm and weigh 30 grams. The interior, as well as the exterior design, are minimized.
The sensor is only 1.6 megapixels, 1/4 CMOS type, with a tiny 35mm f/2.4 lens, with a plastic lens. These mini cameras only take very low resolution photos, at 1,440 x 1,080 pixels.

Video quality is similar, shooting at 30 frames per second in AVI format. Internal memory is quite limited, only saving about 2 photos, so a microSD card supporting up to 1 GB is required, but the product is not included. The camera supports USB-C port that plugs directly into the computer, and is also used to charge the internal battery.
The Kodak Charmera is more than just a gadget. It comes with four digital photo frames, which can be thought of as decorative borders for photos, and seven filters, including black and white, cool tones, warm tones, and pixel filters of yellow, red, blue, and gray.
“More than just a classic look, each Kodak Charmera brings a nostalgic feeling from the design to the photos it produces,” Reto shared. Each photo taken will be decorated with a digital border, with a nostalgic stamp and symbol. Users can share immediately after taking the photo.

The cameras are sold as blind bags, meaning buyers will receive them at random, adding an element of surprise and collectible value to the set. “With six unique retro designs, and one secret edition, this would make a great collectible or a surprise gift for a friend,” Reto added.
The Kodak Charmera keychain camera is currently available on Reto's website for $29.99 each or in a pack of 6 for $179.94 .
