Tet goods arrive in remote villages.

Despite high transportation costs, harsh weather, and difficult traffic conditions, businesses are actively delivering goods to markets and grocery stores in the most remote villages to ensure the supply of goods, stabilize the market, and help people in mountainous areas feel secure in preparing for Tet (Lunar New Year).

At local markets and grocery stores in the highlands, the atmosphere becomes much more bustling in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year). Common Tet items such as confectionery, soft drinks, consumer goods, dried meat, dried mushrooms, vermicelli, warm clothing, and household goods are displayed in abundance by vendors and businesses.

Regularly selling ready-made and hand-embroidered brocade items at the highland market, Giang Thi Din, a Mong ethnic woman from Si Ma Cai commune, sews and embroiders a wider variety of products to meet the shopping needs of the highland people during the Tet holiday. Instead of bringing about 50 items to the Can Cau market like at other markets, in the last two markets, Ms. Din brought around 100 items to display and sell to customers.

Ms. Dín shared: "As Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, the demand for new clothes among women in the highlands increases. Especially during the 'Tet season,' I often sew extra stylish dresses and blouses, more elaborately and brightly decorated, suitable for women to take photos, go on spring outings, and celebrate Tet."

Besides fashion items, at the Can Cau market at this time, traders are also increasing their shipments of confectionery, soft drinks, household goods, etc., to meet the shopping needs of people in the highlands during Tet (Lunar New Year). The shopping atmosphere at the stalls has become more bustling and lively than usual.

At Hung Diu grocery store in the center of Duong Quy commune, the shelves are fully stocked with items such as cakes, candies, dried goods, soft drinks, coffee, tea, sunflower seeds, etc. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Diu, the store owner, for the past two weeks, distributors have been bringing in goods for the Tet holiday to display and serve the shopping needs of local people during the upcoming Tet season. “Business in remote areas is different from that in the lowlands. Goods must be carefully selected according to consumer habits and the purchasing power of the people. People don't prefer fancy designs; they prioritize goods with clear origins, ease of use, reasonable prices, and long shelf lives… Therefore, we usually import goods earlier, dividing them into many shipments to ensure supply and avoid stockpiling during bad weather,” Ms. Diu shared.

Not only in remote and mountainous areas like Si Ma Cai and Duong Quy communes, but also in other regions, distributors are continuously supplying goods to small traders and businesses to meet the increased demand for Tet (Lunar New Year). According to representatives from several distributors, the supply of Tet goods this year is quite abundant, and prices have increased slightly (about 10-15%) compared to normal. Although Tet 2026 is still more than a month away, demand for goods is already starting to rise. Meanwhile, distributors, businesses, and small traders are also increasing their inventory, with stock levels rising by about 50% compared to normal days.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Cong, representative of Hung Thinh Distributor (Cam Duong Ward), said: "During this period, we have increased our inventory in the warehouse by about 40-50% compared to normal days. In addition, we have also increased the number of truck trips to deliver Tet goods to mountainous areas as early as possible. We expect to supply approximately 70,000 cases of soft drinks, 40 tons of seasoning, 20 tons of MSG, and many other consumer goods to mountainous communes in the province during this peak month."

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Cong, despite the difficult transportation conditions in mountainous, remote, and isolated areas, coupled with harsh weather, the facility always arranges enough personnel and vehicles to transport goods promptly to the most remote villages, ensuring sufficient supply to meet the consumption needs of local people during Tet.

Thanks to the proactive efforts of distributors, small traders, and businesses, the supply of Tet goods at local markets and grocery stores in the highlands is now basically ready, meeting the increased shopping demand of the people. The abundant goods at stable prices, delivered to remote villages and hamlets, not only help people shop with peace of mind but also bring joy and abundance to each family in the highlands as the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026 approaches.
