(QBĐT) - With heartfelt compassion and understanding, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the province has done a good job of caring for the poor, always accompanying and supporting those less fortunate in life. Through many creative, appropriate, and effective methods, the Fatherland Front at all levels has inspired and spread the beautiful tradition of Vietnamese national compassion and the strength of national unity, urging every citizen to act for the poor and for the good things in life and society.
Join hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind.
Caring for the poor has become a message of compassion, sharing, understanding, and determination to act so that "no one is left behind." Responding to the Prime Minister 's emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind" and the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in recent times, the Party committees, government, Fatherland Front, and member organizations in the province have carried out many practical and meaningful activities to awaken the spirit of solidarity and mutual support of the nation to create resources to help and care for the poor, contributing to the effective implementation of social security policies and the sustainable poverty reduction goals of the province. Activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of the poor and vulnerable groups are intensified during the annual "For the Poor" campaign month (from October 17th to November 18th).
According to Le Cong Cuong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh province: “From the peak month of the "For the Poor" campaign in 2023 to August 2024, through the "For the Poor" Fund, the Fatherland Front at all levels has carried out many meaningful and practical activities to care for the poor with a total amount of over 23.6 billion VND. Accordingly, support was provided for the construction and repair of 357 houses for poor and near-poor households and families with particularly difficult circumstances; livelihood support was provided to over 1,000 poor and near-poor households, policy beneficiary families, and families with difficult circumstances; visits and gifts were given during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year), and other support was provided to thousands of beneficiaries... Localities that did well in mobilizing the "For the Poor" Fund include: Bo Trach with over 5.7 billion VND, Le Thuy with over 3.6 billion VND, Dong Hoi City with over 3.3 billion VND, Tuyen Hoa with 3 billion VND, and Quang Ninh with over 2.6 billion VND”...
In response to the emulation movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind," member organizations within the provincial Fatherland Front bloc have also intensified their efforts to care for the poor and ensure social security with many practical activities. The total funding from various sources, including the social security fund of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and social contributions from member organizations in the province, has supported members, poor households, poor communities, and families in difficult circumstances from the peak month of "For the Poor" in 2023 to the present, exceeding 160 billion VND.
Through flexible and coordinated solutions from the "For the Poor" Fund Campaign Committees at all levels, combined with social welfare programs of member organizations, poor households and those facing difficult circumstances have improved their quality of life, contributing to the effective implementation of the province's poverty reduction and poverty alleviation policies by Party committees and authorities at all levels.
Fostering a spirit of solidarity and mutual support.
Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the town. According to Mr. Mai Tat Thang of Ba Don Town, “In response to the 2024 ‘For the Poor’ campaign and the movement ‘The whole country joins hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind’ and the emulation movement ‘Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses,’ the Ba Don Town Fatherland Front Committee recently organized a groundbreaking ceremony and presented symbolic plaques to support the construction of ‘Great Solidarity’ houses for 25 poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households with housing difficulties, with a total budget of 1.5 billion VND. Of this, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee supported 20 houses worth 1 billion VND, and the Vietnam Commercial and Industrial Bank - Quang Binh Branch supported 5 houses worth 500 million VND. The Ba Don Town Fatherland Front Committee is continuing to connect with, call upon, and mobilize organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to create more funds to support the construction of ‘Great Solidarity’ houses, helping poor households stabilize their living conditions, feel secure in their work and production, and have a stable life.” "Adds motivation to strive for success in life."
Speaking with reporters, the Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Le Thuy District, Ninh Thi Hoa, shared: “We always prioritize the implementation of the ‘Great Solidarity’ housing program and social welfare activities according to the ‘three real’ principle: real work, real effectiveness, real benefits, and selecting the right beneficiaries. To begin implementation, grassroots Fatherland Front officials and the Fatherland Front working committees in residential areas visited each household, assessed each individual, and determined the circumstances of each family to develop appropriate plans for supporting the ‘Great Solidarity’ housing program. The grassroots Fatherland Front encouraged families to proactively prepare the land, manpower, and a portion of the funds for housing construction, ensuring the minimum needs of the family are met. Many families have received support from philanthropists, relatives, neighbors, and organizations, who have helped them utilize old materials to build houses that are ‘three solid’ (solid foundation, solid frame/walls, solid roof), allowing them to work and produce with peace of mind and take care of their family's lives.”
Over the past five years, from the "For the Poor" Fund at the district and commune levels, and from social mobilization efforts by member organizations, totaling over 30.7 billion VND, Le Thuy district has focused on caring for the poor and implementing social welfare programs, helping hundreds of families rise out of poverty. With practical and effective approaches, the Fatherland Front at all levels and its member organizations have made significant contributions to Le Thuy district's poverty reduction program. Currently, the district has 1,893 poor households, accounting for 4.47%, and 1,452 near-poor households, accounting for 3.34%.
| Along with actively calling for and mobilizing support for the "For the Poor" Fund at all levels, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province is stepping up propaganda and mobilization efforts at all levels, sectors, agencies, units, and localities in the province to organize meaningful and practical activities during the peak month of the "For the Poor" campaign in 2024. For the community, the spirit of "mutual support and compassion" is being promoted, providing additional funding, materials, and labor when poor households build or repair their houses. Alternatively, support can be provided in the form of capital, production equipment, plant and animal breeds, and sharing of production and business experience to help poor households rise out of poverty sustainably. |
In Quang Ninh district, the "For the Poor" campaign and social welfare programs continue to be innovated and operate effectively. The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district has determined that it is necessary to change the methods of mobilization to maximize all available support resources. Through various programs and flexible mobilization methods, compiling specific addresses in need of assistance, and spreading good deeds, the Fatherland Front at all levels in Quang Ninh district has attracted more and more businesses and philanthropists to participate in supporting the "For the Poor" Fund.
Over the past five years, the Fatherland Front at all levels in the district has mobilized over 4.5 billion VND for the "For the Poor" Fund and over 7.3 billion VND for social welfare programs. From these mobilized resources, the locality has supported the construction and repair of 153 "Great Solidarity" houses with a total value of over 8.7 billion VND; visited, presented gifts, and provided production development support to thousands of poor households and poor students… The mobilized resources and the process of organizing the distribution of support to the poor have been publicized through mass media.
Sharing his experience in propaganda and mobilization work to unite all strata of people in caring for the poor, implementing social security, and achieving sustainable poverty reduction in the locality, Nguyen Thanh Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Cu Nam commune (Bo Trach district), said: “Every year, the commune's Fatherland Front participates in reviewing poor and near-poor households in the area, identifying the causes of poverty to provide practical support solutions to help people escape poverty. From there, specific tasks are assigned to member organizations to help poor and near-poor households develop production; coordinating with the commune People's Committee to effectively implement livelihood diversification projects and develop poverty reduction models.”
Currently, several livelihood models guided and implemented by the Fatherland Front are proving effective, helping many families rise out of poverty. From 2019 to the present, the Fatherland Front has effectively mobilized and implemented the "For the Poor" Fund, actively connecting with organizations and philanthropists to distribute over 600 gifts to poor households, families with difficult circumstances, and underprivileged students, worth over 400 million VND; and has mobilized and secured resources to build and repair "Great Solidarity" houses for poor households with a total cost of over 2.7 billion VND.
Continue to spread the noble tradition of compassion.
According to Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Le Cong Cuong: “With the message “Leaving no one behind,” during the peak month of the “For the Poor” campaign in 2024, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province calls on agencies, organizations, individuals, businesses, and philanthropists inside and outside the province, with the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, to extend their loving arms to the poor, actively responding by donating one day's salary, one day's work, one day's income, or allocating a portion of their welfare fund to support the “For the Poor” Fund. From there, we will promote the spirit of solidarity, working together to help and create conditions for the poor in the province to rise up and stabilize their lives, joining forces with the entire provincial political system to successfully implement the social security program and sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.”
In the province, there are still many poor and near-poor households that need support and assistance with housing, and many families, for various reasons, still need the collective support and sharing of the community to stabilize their lives and rise out of poverty. For poor households and those with particularly difficult circumstances to sustainably escape poverty, in addition to the determination, effort, and striving of the families themselves, initial support from the government, the Fatherland Front and its member organizations, the collective efforts of the community and society, businesses, and philanthropists are essential.
These noble acts of kindness and generosity serve as a great source of spiritual motivation and create opportunities for the poor to have more decent homes through the "Great Solidarity" housing construction program, or by providing capital for production, creating jobs for the poor to have stable incomes, or through other forms of support to help poor households...
