Moon halo appears on Mid-Autumn Festival night in Quang Ninh
People used their phones to take pictures and post them on social media, expressing their curiosity about this unique and rare phenomenon.
Rare phenomenon
Many people said they had seen the solar rainbow halo many times before during the day. However, this was the first time they had seen the lunar halo, especially on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
The sky was clear so the moon was clearly visible.
The Moon's halo is actually an optical illusion formed when light is refracted by ice crystals in clouds.
Full moon in August
Lunar halos can occur at any time of the year. The frequency of seeing them depends on the amount of cirrus clouds in a given area. However, in order to see a halo, the ice crystals in the cirrus clouds must be in the right position relative to the eye. This means that the optical illusion will appear differently to everyone.
This unique phenomenon makes many people enjoy watching.
