Harry Kane has been consistently scoring goals for Bayern. |
Against Heidenheim, Kane scored and reached the milestone of 100 Bundesliga appearances in just 78 matches, the fastest in the league's history. Kane's record stands at 81 goals and 19 assists. Previously, Roy Makaay held this record, needing 113 matches.
Notably, Kane made history in his very first game as Bayern captain. Understandably, the 32-year-old striker was also named "German Football Person of the Year" by the prestigious Kicker magazine, a well-deserved reward for his outstanding and influential 12 months of play.
Before joining Bayern in the summer of 2023, Kane was considered one of the world's top strikers. He broke numerous goalscoring records at Tottenham and came very close to surpassing legend Alan Shearer in the Premier League. However, what always haunted Kane was a collective title – something he never won with Spurs or England.
In his first season in Germany, Kane scored goals like a machine but still missed out on trophies as Bayern were overtaken by Bayer Leverkusen in the domestic league and eliminated in the Champions League semi-finals. It wasn't until his second season that his dream came true when Kane and Bayern won the Bundesliga, ending the "trophy-less curse" that had plagued his career.
Not stopping there, Kane admitted he is aiming for Robert Lewandowski's record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season. With 19 goals this season, that goal is not too far-fetched if he maintains his consistency.
Before the winter break, Bayern remained unbeaten, leading the league table by 9 points, and Kane was clearly a symbol of the "Bavarian giants'" ambition to conquer both domestically and in Europe.
