In an interview with the Government Online Newspaper, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Hau Giang Provincial National Assembly Delegation, stated: Hau Giang's GRDP growth rate in the first quarter of 2025 is projected to reach 9.57%; ranking number 1 in the Mekong Delta region; and among the top-performing provinces nationwide (in the first quarter of 2025, Hau Giang's economic growth will surpass that of Tra Vinh province, while in 2024 Tra Vinh province consistently led the Mekong Delta region).

According to the Hau Giang Provincial Statistics Department, at the end of the first quarter, despite facing numerous difficulties and challenges, the socio-economic development of Hau Giang province showed progress compared to the same period last year, thanks to higher growth rates in all economic sectors compared to the same period.

However, compared to the growth target set for the year, the province has not achieved its goals. Specifically, the province's economic growth rate (GRDP) in the first three months of the year is estimated at 9.57%, while the target was 10.54%.

Frankly pointing out the causes, Hau Giang province stated that many businesses have not yet signed large contracts with partners, some others have not started operations as planned, disbursement of public investment capital has not met the plan, and budget revenue has not been as projected...

To address this situation, Hau Giang province has requested all levels and sectors to review and specifically assess the causes, especially the subjective causes, in order to develop decisive and thorough solutions to ensure the growth targets are met as outlined in the plan.

That is, adhering closely to the Prime Minister's directive of "5 clear points," which include: clear person, clear task, clear responsibility, clear time, and clear results. At the same time, during the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in each department, sector, and locality within the province, it is necessary to consistently follow the principle of "Scenarios are developed quarterly, evaluated monthly, and reviewed weekly," thereby ensuring that the progress and volume of work meet the requirements.

In that spirit, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hau Giang province, Tran Van Huyen, emphasized that the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the coming period still faces many difficulties and challenges; therefore, he requested that the heads of provincial agencies, departments, and the Chairmen of the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities in the province continue to promote dynamism, creativity, and flexibility in leadership and management; enhance the role and responsibility of the leaders to resolutely complete the assigned tasks well, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the province, especially striving to achieve the double-digit growth rate of 10.14% set by the province at the beginning of the year.
