The Ministry of Defense stated that Hau "the artilleryman" had obtained over 7,000 billion VND from customers through investment cooperation contracts and land use rights transfer agreements.

On June 17th, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ministry of National Defense announced it is investigating a criminal case of "Violation of regulations on land management and fraud to appropriate property" occurring in Khanh Hoa province and several other localities related to the Nha Trang Central Commercial - Service - Financial - Tourism Urban Area Project in Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa province), invested by Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company (Tam Phuc commune, Vinh Tuong district, Vinh Phuc province).

The suspect is Nguyen Van Hau, also known as Hau "the firecracker".

The investigation revealed that from 2016 to the present, Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company, chaired and managed by the defendant Nguyen Van Hau, collected over 7,000 billion VND from customers through investment cooperation contracts and land use rights transfer agreements.

To assist in the investigation of the case, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ministry of National Defense requests that individuals who have paid money to Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company or related parties to sign investment cooperation contracts or land use rights transfer contracts, urgently contact the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ministry of National Defense through investigator Hoang Thang Hung, phone number 0974015358; or at 14A9 Ly Nam De Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi , before July 10, 2025, to provide information and documents.

In addition to the wrongdoing in Nha Trang, which was handled by the military's investigative agency, Hau "the artilleryman" was also prosecuted in a case investigated by the police and for which the Supreme People's Procuracy had issued an indictment.

In this case, Nguyen Van Hau faces charges of "violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences" resulting in losses of 504 billion VND; "violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences" resulting in losses of 459 billion VND; and "giving bribes" totaling 132 billion VND to 9 officials.

According to the prosecuting authorities, from 2010 to 2023, Hau and his accomplices committed acts of "giving/receiving bribes," "abusing their positions and authority while performing official duties," "violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences," "violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences," and "abusing influence over people in positions of power for personal gain" in the provinces of Vinh Phuc, Phu Tho , Quang Ngai, and Vinh Long, illegally profiting and causing damage to the State budget totaling more than 1,168 billion VND.
