Students in the Military Training Semester practice drill and formation - cultivating willpower, discipline, and team spirit.
Train yourself
The 3rd "Learning to be a Police Officer" program in 2025, themed "Proud to be a Police Officer - Self-Improvement," is one of the highlights of this year's summer activities in Long An. This is not simply an experiential learning model, but a comprehensive training and education environment for young people aged 12-17. According to Pham Van Hau, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, the program's goals are to educate young people about the ethics and fine traditions of the nation; to foster a healthy lifestyle and responsibility towards the community; and to help them improve their knowledge and cultivate discipline. Through this, it creates a practical platform to inspire feelings of confidence and pride in the Vietnamese People's Police force.
Participating in the police training program, the children get to visit historical sites.
The program will be held from June 25th to July 1st, 2025 at the Provincial Police Training and Professional Development Center (Tan An City). Participants must be healthy young people currently studying at junior and senior high schools within and outside the province.
The training content is rich and diverse, ranging from barracks regulations, drill and formation instruction, unarmed combat, morning exercises to rescue, emergency response, escape, fire prevention, and firefighting skills. In particular, the trainees also learn about the Six Teachings of President Ho Chi Minh to the People's Police, the Five Oaths, and the Ten Disciplinary Rules – core values that forge the character of a soldier.
Alongside these activities are skills-based education programs: parental emotions and love, online etiquette, preventing and combating abuse, self-protection skills, managing personal emotions, safe internet use, etc. Children also receive training in swimming and handling drowning situations – a major concern every summer.
Another positive aspect is the inclusion of traditional educational themes such as visiting historical sites, writing diaries, writing letters to parents, participating in agricultural production, etc. Through these activities, children are encouraged to slow down, show more love, and better understand the value of family and community.
Awaken your inner strength
Students who learn martial arts during the summer not only improve their health but also have fun and socialize with friends.
Also part of the series of typical summer activities, the 12th "Semester in the Army" program in 2025, themed "Awakening the Inner Strength - Overcoming Oneself," will be held from July 22nd to July 31st, 2025 at the 1st Infantry Battalion, 738th Infantry Regiment (Thanh Hoa District).
The program's goals are not only to cultivate physical fitness and mental discipline, but also to awaken love for the homeland, civic consciousness, and gratitude towards previous generations in each student. The strict yet warm military environment, filled with camaraderie, helps the students experience the feeling of "growing up through challenges."
The students are learning to arrange their belongings.
The participants are students aged 12-17, who are in good health, volunteer, and have parental consent. Here, they learn and live like real soldiers, from political education and drill instruction to folding bedding, morning exercises, and K16 obstacle course training, learning about the functions of guns and mortars, etc. All of this helps them understand more about the fighting spirit, courage, and noble qualities of the Ho Chi Minh's Army.

Life skills topics were also appropriately integrated, such as parental emotions and love, self-reliance skills, teenage love - should it be encouraged or not?... Practical conversations and sharing sessions provided students with a deeper understanding of themselves, their decisions, and their personal responsibilities in life.
Supplementary activities such as resource gatherings, campfires, folk dances, group performances, etc., not only help the children bond with each other but also cultivate teamwork and self-confidence in expressing themselves in front of a group.
Sow the seeds of talent, nurture passion.
Chess lessons help children develop their thinking skills, intelligence, and concentration abilities.
Without the sound of school bells, lectures, or rigorous exams, summer is the ideal time for children to pursue their interests and passions. The Provincial Children's Center is where those dreams take flight. Currently, it offers more than 20 types of extracurricular activities, from martial arts (Taekwondo, Karatedo, Vovinam, traditional martial arts), chess, children's dance, vocal music, music, drawing, to robot assembly, etc. During the summer, the number of students increases from the usual 800 to 1,000-2,000. Hua Khanh An, a student in class 1/5 at Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School (Tan An City), innocently shared: “I asked my parents to let me learn chess because many of my classmates also learn it. The teacher teaches me many new things, and I'm very happy to have many friends to play with. I really enjoy it!”
Mr. Nguyen Huynh Minh Toan, Chairman of the Long An Chess Club, said: “After a year of schooling, parents often choose talent classes for their children. Chess is one of the popular choices because it both trains thinking skills and helps discover talents to participate in competitions within and outside the province. We divide students into groups according to skill level to improve quality.”
In addition to professional training, the Provincial Children's House also collaborates in organizing other talent classes. These talent classes are not only places for learning but also playgrounds for interaction, friendship building, and the holistic physical and mental development of young children.
Mr. Pham Van Hau said that each summer is a journey of growth filled with countless memories. Activities like "Learning to be a Police Officer," "Summer Camp in the Army," or talent classes at the Provincial Children's House not only create beneficial and enjoyable summer days but also nurture the soul, forge willpower, and cultivate character for the future generation of the country. When children are able to play in a safe environment and receive moral and life skills education, society is sowing good seeds for tomorrow's society.
