Renowned leaker Digital Chat Station has provided a first look at Apple's upcoming foldable iPhone, tentatively called the iPhone Fold. The device is said to have a 5.49-inch external display and a 7.74-inch internal display. If accurate, it would be Apple's smallest non-iPhone SE smartphone since the iPhone 8 Plus launched in 2017.

For comparison, the current iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch display, the iPhone 16 Pro is 6.3 inches, the iPhone 16 Plus is 6.7 inches, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display. Even the iPhone SE 4, which is expected to launch next week, will have a 6.1-inch display.
Small screen makes foldable iPhone less attractive
The small screen size has many wondering how Apple’s new foldable iPhone will compete with existing products on the market. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold both have 6.3-inch external displays, while the OnePlus Open has a 6.31-inch external display. To find a foldable phone with a smaller external display, users have to go back to the Pixel Fold, which has a 5.8-inch screen.
Not stopping there, the first foldable iPhone could also have one of the smallest internal displays available, measuring 7.74 inches, smaller than the 8-inch display on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
However, it should be noted that this information is still just a leak and may not be accurate. Even if Digital Chat Station is correct, it is still unclear whether this is the final size of the product. This is because Apple may be testing different models for the iPhone Fold.
