Rashford looked pensive as he watched the Manchester United youth team miss out on a place in the FA Youth Cup final. |
Despite being dressed modestly in a hooded sweatshirt and sitting in the back row, the Manchester United star – currently on loan at Aston Villa – was still caught on camera by a keen-eyed fan reacting to the incident after the match ended.
While the surrounding spectators rose to their feet and applauded the home team's victory, Rashford quickly got up and quietly left the stands, trying to avoid any attention.
The match was attended by Sir Alex Ferguson in the stands, but it didn't end as expected for the visitors. Villa opened the scoring early in the 4th minute through Trai-Varn Mulley, before James Scanlon equalized for MU.
Neither team scored any more goals, thus the match went to a penalty shootout. Manchester United's young stars had a terrible penalty shootout, successfully converting only 1 out of 4 shots, allowing Villa to snatch the place in the final.
The FA Youth Cup final will take place on April 10th, also at Villa Park, when Villa will face the winner of the other semi-final between Man City and Watford.
Rashford is gradually rediscovering his form at Aston Villa. Last weekend, the striker scored a brace in the FA Cup victory against Preston. The 27-year-old star was also given a starting spot by manager Thomas Tuchel for England in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Latvia and Albania.
Rashford is expected to help Unai Emery's team compete for a top-five finish in the Premier League and progress deep into the Champions League. However, his future remains uncertain, as it is unclear whether Villa will sign him permanently or if manager Ruben Amorim will keep him.
Rashford's brace helps Aston Villa reach FA Cup semi-finals . On the night of March 30th, Marcus Rashford had a brilliant performance, helping Aston Villa secure a 3-0 victory over Preston in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
