Goalkeeper Emil Audero is a quality addition to the Indonesian team.

Indonesian media revealed that coach Patrick Kluivert is ready to create a new wind for the team, even when they enter the important match in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Sydney. The Dutch strategist can field 4 new naturalized faces, and 1 new domestic player in the Indonesian team.

Emil Audero, the goalkeeper currently playing for Palermo in Serie B (Italy), can start in goal. Audero has played for the Italian youth teams from U15 to U21 and promises to significantly strengthen the Indonesian goalkeeper position.

Meanwhile, left-back Dean James (Go Ahead Eagles), midfielder Joey Pelupessy (Lommel SK) and striker Ole Romeny (Oxford United) are all good enough to play against Australia. Septian Bagaskara, a homegrown striker who has scored seven goals for Dewa United in Liga 1 (Indonesia’s national championship) this season, is in fine form and ready to impress on the international stage.

The final decision will be in the hands of coach Patrick Kluivert. Kompas said the absence of key players such as Egy Maulana Vikri, Ragnar Oratmangoen and Justin Hubner due to injuries and suspensions opens up opportunities for Indonesia to experiment with new faces.

Currently, Indonesia (6 points) is ranked 3rd in Group C, behind Australia (7 points) in 2nd place. A victory in Sydney will help "Garuda" improve its ranking and maintain its hope of winning a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
