According to our sources, following a series of disappointing results, coach Le Huynh Duc and the Ho Chi Minh City Police FC have decided to part ways. This is seen as an inevitable consequence after a period in which the team failed to find a solution to its performance problems.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City Police FC experienced an inconsistent start to the second half of the 2025-2026 V-League season, culminating in a streak of three consecutive losses, conceding 10 goals and failing to score any, although they were still relatively safe from the bottom of the table.
The 0-3 defeat against CAHN in round 19 clearly exposed the team's shortcomings, especially their ineffective finishing. Coach Le Huynh Duc admitted that the attack was the biggest problem, as the team failed to capitalize on opportunities to gain an advantage.
Despite a subsequent 1-0 victory against Ha Tinh , Ho Chi Minh City Police FC quickly reverted to their disappointing form with another defeat against Nam Dinh at Thien Truong Stadium, a match considered the "last straw" as their weaknesses continued to resurface.
Assistant coach Phung Thanh Phuong could become the interim head coach of Ho Chi Minh City Police.
Ho Chi Minh City Police currently has 26 points and is temporarily out of the relegation zone. The 13-point gap with the bottom group is not enough to guarantee peace of mind with many rounds remaining in the season. A further decline is entirely possible if Ho Chi Minh City Police does not soon improve their goal-scoring performance.
The club is considering who will take over temporarily. Among the candidates is assistant coach Phung Thanh Phuong, a kind-hearted city native who prioritizes the team and doesn't usually insist on being the head or deputy head of the teams he works for. Phuong himself has twice served as interim coach during transition periods, leading both Saigon FC and Ho Chi Minh City FC.
If given the opportunity, Mr. Phuong would face a challenging task: stabilizing the players' morale, improving their playing style, and ultimately aiming to maintain their position in the competitive group.
