The Southern Irrigation Exploitation One-Member Limited Liability Company also stated that, depending on weather conditions in the basin, tides on the Saigon River, and water levels and inflow into Dau Tieng Reservoir, the company will adjust the timing and flow rate of water release to suit the actual situation and will provide the earliest possible notification of the adjustment plan so that people and authorities can proactively understand the information. After the above period, the company will continue to release water to maintain the downstream flow of the dam according to the inter-reservoir operating procedure, with a minimum flow rate of 36 m3/s.
Dau Tieng Lake is the largest artificial freshwater reservoir in Southeast Asia, located on the border of three provinces and cities: Tay Ninh, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai. It is a particularly important irrigation project related to national security, with a surface area of 27 km2 and a catchment area of 270 km2. The reservoir has a capacity of 1.58 billion m3 of water, providing irrigation water for over 249,000 hectares of agricultural land, nearly 150 million m3 of freshwater for industrial sectors, and supplying drinking water to the three provinces and cities of Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City.
