The Women's Unions of Hoa Khanh, Tien Phuoc, and Song Kon communes and wards recently signed a twinning program. Immediately after the signing ceremony, the Hoa Khanh Ward Women's Union pledged to sponsor four orphaned children in Song Kon commune with a total budget of 80 million VND over five years; they also donated breeding pigs to five impoverished women, worth a total of 17 million VND.
According to Ms. Duong Thi My Vinh, President of the Women's Union of Hoa Khanh Ward, in the coming time, the three units will coordinate to organize social welfare programs, digital markets, and regular agricultural product markets. These activities will not only expand opportunities for consuming goods but also contribute to creating stable livelihoods, gradually narrowing the development gap between the highlands and the lowlands.
Also in early June, the City Women's Union launched the "Women's Broom-Making Cooperative" model in Hung Son commune with 30 local women participating. Following the principle of "hands-on training," the organizers trained the trainees to grasp the process from processing raw materials, drying and preserving the broom grass to prevent mold and mildew, to broom-making techniques...
Notably, the association has partnered with the Vietnam Indigenous Livelihood Cooperative to guarantee the purchase of its products. According to Ms. Hoang Thi Thu Huong, President of the City Women's Union, in the coming time, the two units will continue to promote the spirit of solidarity and responsibility, strengthen efforts to care for the lives of members, support livelihoods, and contribute to the successful implementation of the local socio -economic development tasks.

Previously, starting in early January 2026, the City Women's Union established a sister-commune relationship with the Hung Son Commune Party Committee for the period 2026-2030. Since then, the union has implemented many support activities such as building houses, giving gifts, supporting livelihoods, and opening vocational training classes for local women.
Ms. P'loong Thi Nhat (H'juh village), a poor household whose husband passed away early, is raising two children alone and lacks the means to repair her dilapidated house. Not far away, Ms. Coor Thi Nua (Ki'nonh village) also faces difficult circumstances and lives in an unsafe house. Therefore, the City Women's Union provided each household with 80 million VND to build new houses. To date, both houses have been completed, are spacious and sturdy, and ensure safety before the rainy season.
Strengthening bonds of friendship
The house of Mr. Trung Van Lam (Gia Cao village, Phuoc Tra commune) was recently inaugurated after more than two months of construction. The new house has an area of 50 square meters, consisting of three rooms, tiled floors, and a sturdy corrugated iron roof. The total construction cost was 155 million VND, of which the City Labor Union contributed 125 million VND, and the rest was contributed by the family.

Mr. Lam's house is one of 10 solidarity houses for poor households in Phuoc Tra commune, supported by the City Labor Union with a total cost of over 1.2 billion VND. The resources for this project were mobilized from voluntary contributions of city union members.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam, Secretary of the Phuoc Tra Commune Party Committee, said that the Ca Dong and Mo Nong ethnic groups account for about 74% of the local population and face many difficulties in their lives. Therefore, the support of the City Labor Union has played an important role in implementing social welfare programs, providing housing assistance, and creating conditions for people to stabilize their lives. In the future, the locality hopes to continue receiving support in social welfare programs, vocational training, and technology transfer to help the ethnic minorities have more opportunities to develop their economy and increase their income.
In Tra Doc commune, Mr. Phan Duy Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee, said that the locality is characterized by ethnic minorities accounting for over 90% of the population. The lives of the people are still difficult due to incomplete infrastructure and livelihoods mainly dependent on the forests and mountains.
Following the City Party Committee's directive, the commune Party Committee established fraternal ties with the Tam Xuan commune Party Committee and the Dien Ban Bac ward Party Committee. Meanwhile, the Tra Doc commune People's Committee established fraternal ties with the Department of Finance and the Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Company. In addition, many schools in the lowland communes also organized fraternal ties.
The twinning program between localities and agencies/units has yielded many positive results, focusing on social welfare with a total expenditure of over 600 million VND.
Specifically, Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Company has supported the construction of two charitable houses for poor households with particularly difficult circumstances, with a support of 60 million VND per house. In addition, Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Company has implemented a livelihood model for households in Tra Doc with a total budget of 162.5 million VND, including the provision of 500 bamboo trees and 7,700 betel nut trees to create conditions for people to develop production and increase their income.
Mr. Le Xuan Vu (village 2) said that after receiving the donation from Song Tranh 2 Hydropower Company, his family quickly bought materials to start building their house. “Our biggest hope is the day we can move into our new home, because for so many years we have lived in a makeshift house. Having a new house will ease our worries about storms and make our family life more comfortable,” Mr. Vu said.
