Learn from Uncle Ho through small things.

Over the past period, the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style have been concretized by cadres, members, and women in the province through practical actions. From small actions to meaningful models, these have spread throughout the community.

As a regular practice, around the 27th of each month, 15 female members of the Minh Tan A Women's Association in U Minh Thuong commune mobilize to collect recyclable waste along approximately 5km of roads within the hamlet. Afterward, they sort and sell the waste to a recycling unit. The money earned is donated to members in difficult circumstances and elderly people living alone. According to Ms. Huynh Thi Ly, head of the Minh Tan A Women's Association, in daily life, used cans and plastic bottles are often carelessly discarded, causing waste and harming the environment. Therefore, the association has implemented a "Collecting Recyclable Materials to Raise Charity Funds" model to help members in difficult circumstances and elderly people living alone. “Initially, when the model was first established, the women didn't have the habit of sorting household waste, so it was difficult to encourage participation. After being informed about the purpose and significance of the model, many women actively participated. The model is meaningful in raising women's awareness of environmental protection and provides a source of funding to support members in difficult circumstances and elderly people living alone to improve their lives,” Ms. Ly shared.

The members of the model always remind each other that every little bit counts. On the day of the scrap collection, everyone publicly and clearly records the quantity and the money earned from the sales. From the money collected, during Tet (Lunar New Year), the Women's Association will give gifts to members, disadvantaged women, and elderly people living alone, each gift worth about 500,000 VND. "This year, I received a gift from the Women's Association of Minh Tan A hamlet for Tet, I'm so happy!" said Ms. Ta Thi Le, a resident of Minh Tan A hamlet.

Following the principle of learning from President Ho Chi Minh in even the smallest actions, the Tan Chau Ward Women's Union has developed a model of "Women's Group for Social Welfare Implementation". According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Loan, President of the Tan Chau Ward Women's Union, stemming from the reality that there are still many poor households, elderly people living alone, and people with disabilities facing difficulties in the area, in 2021, the union mobilized members, women, and philanthropists to participate in the "Women's Group for Social Welfare Implementation" model in Long Hung I hamlet with 10 members. Each member contributes from 200,000 to 500,000 VND per month. Periodically, every one or two months, the group will organize the donation of 60-100 gifts, each worth from 150,000 to 250,000 VND. "The highlight of the model is its flexible approach, combining direct support with in-kind donations with visits to understand the thoughts and aspirations of the people. The model doesn't just stop at 'giving a fish,' but also aims to 'give a fishing rod,' gradually supporting households to rise out of poverty sustainably," Ms. Loan affirmed.

The "Women's Group for Social Welfare" model has become a shining example in caring for the lives of poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged members, helping them to have confidence in life. The model has fostered a spirit of solidarity and mutual support within the community. More and more organizations and individuals are joining hands to contribute to its implementation. Some households, after escaping poverty, have returned to participate in the model, continuing to spread the values of compassion within the community.

Thanks to the promotion of emulation movements and campaigns linked to the implementation of studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh , women's associations at all levels have maintained 721 women's groups studying and following the example of Uncle Ho with 10,284 members participating, saving more than 3.4 billion VND. At the same time, they have provided 29 tons of rice to members, women, and poor people in difficult circumstances, with a value of more than 10 billion VND.

Ms. Truong Thanh Thuy, President of the Provincial Women's Union, stated: "With many efforts and innovations, in recent times, the Women's Union at all levels in the province has implemented effective methods in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh. Each cadre, member, and woman strives to cultivate, compete in learning, work creatively, and practice thrift... contributing to building the image of An Giang women as 'Confident - Self-respecting - Loyal - Capable,' affirming their position in social life."
