No matter what field you're studying, you should know about AI.

A topic of great interest to many students in Ca Mau during the college admissions and career guidance program was the changes in training for certain academic fields in the face of pressure from artificial intelligence (AI).

On March 28th, the Tuoi Tre newspaper's college admissions and career guidance program stopped at the most remote destination in the South, Tran Van Thoi commune (Ca Mau province), where it was warmly welcomed by local students.

AI is becoming widespread.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hua Duy Khang, Deputy Head of the Training Department at Can Tho University, AI is having a strong impact on education and will become an indispensable tool in the work of future teachers.

While preparing a lesson used to take days, even weeks, AI can shorten that time to just a few hours, helping teachers improve their teaching methods and optimize their time.

Therefore, many teacher training programs at universities have proactively equipped students with knowledge and skills in using AI. According to him, AI will be a tool that future teachers need alongside their expertise and pedagogical skills.

According to Mr. Cu Xuan Tien, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs at the University of Economics and Law (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), interdisciplinary trends are becoming a distinct characteristic of the current labor market, especially in the finance sector.

Many job positions no longer separate finance and technology but require a combination of both. The fintech industry is a prime example.

Fintech training programs are also designed to be integrated, with technology, including programming, accounting for about 40%, and financial knowledge accounting for about 60%, to ensure balance and suitability for a wide range of learners. However, more importantly, students need to be prepared for technology to increasingly permeate all industries.

"Regardless of their field of study, students need to prepare themselves to apply technology in their work because this is an inevitable trend and almost irreversible in the future," he emphasized.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that AI is also having a strong impact on the automotive technology sector, changing the way vehicles are designed, manufactured, and operated.

Technologies such as self-driving cars, driver assistance systems, intelligent fault diagnosis, and operational optimization all rely on data and AI. Therefore, the automotive industry is no longer purely mechanical but is shifting towards an integrated model of mechanics, electrical and electronic engineering, and digital technology.

And automotive technology training programs at universities are also being adjusted towards an interdisciplinary approach, helping students access both the "hard" and "soft" aspects of vehicles. Besides knowledge of engines and structures, students are also equipped with knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, sensors, programming, and data processing.

"In the context of the rapid development of electric and smart vehicles, understanding and applying technology, especially AI, has become an essential requirement for automotive engineers in the future," Mr. Nhan said.

Impressions of Ca Mau students

The program in the "southernmost region of the country" showed that students have strong academic determination, raising practical questions and concerns about the future. Dr. Dang Thi Ngoc Lan - Vice Rector of Cuu Long University - assessed that the students came to the event well-prepared, raising highly practical questions and concerns about the training program and future career opportunities.

"We are living in the digital age with so much information, so I believe the role of career counselors is even more necessary because they can help students orient themselves towards careers that suit their strengths and passions," said Dr. Lan.

Lieutenant Colonel Dau Duc Quang - from the training department of the Naval Academy - observed that the students from Ca Mau asked truly serious and well-prepared questions, with almost none being asked just for the sake of asking. They were very interested in health requirements, admission methods, exam subjects, and quotas for regular military universities and colleges.

"The students here are very active and highly conscious of choosing their majors and schools within the military sector, so I am even more excited to participate in the program. I hope it has helped them to better orient their careers," Mr. Quang expressed.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Long, Deputy Director of the Ca Mau Department of Education and Training, said that the college admissions and career guidance program organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Training has entered its 24th year, becoming a reputable information channel every admissions season.

The program's continued expansion and spread to many localities, especially its organization in Ca Mau, the southernmost point of the country, demonstrates an effort to bring educational information closer to students in areas with limited access.

According to Mr. Long, given the changes in admission methods and skill requirements for each profession in the 2026 admissions period, the program plays a crucial role in bringing together experts, university leaders, and representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training to provide accurate and up-to-date information.

As a result, students have gained a clear understanding of the new aspects of the high school graduation exam and university admission regulations, and have had the opportunity to directly discuss academic fields, training pathways, and career trends in the era of digital transformation and AI.

Your first choice shouldn't be the "easiest" choice to get into.

Dr. Pham Tan Ha - Director of the Admissions Counseling Center at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) - emphasized that the most important principle when registering for admission is that candidates need to arrange their preferences according to their own level of interest and priority.

According to him, the first choice should be the candidate's most desired option, not the one that is easiest to get into. "Candidates can register a maximum of 15 choices, so feel free to prioritize them. If you don't get accepted, the system will automatically consider the next choices," he said.

Final consultation point

This morning (March 29), the college admissions and career guidance program continued to be organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper at Bac Lieu High School (Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Bac Lieu Ward, Ca Mau Province), expected to attract a large number of students from the area and surrounding regions.

This final program will conclude the first leg of the 2026 journey after several stops across the country. We invite parents and students to participate in the program to directly listen, exchange ideas, and receive important information for the upcoming admissions season. The program is open to the public, completely free of charge, and no prior registration is required.
