Every morning, before the first class begins, students throughout the school spend the first 15 minutes reading newspapers, discussing, and sharing noteworthy content.

The school library's preferred newspaper is the Da Nang newspaper, as it is a readily available source of information that vividly reflects the economic , cultural, and social situation in the local area and the region where the students live.

Teacher Zơ Râm Duy, Secretary of the Youth Union at Quang Nam Ethnic Boarding High School, shared: “Through observation, we have noticed that our students are particularly interested in sections such as Social Welfare - Poverty Reduction, Education - Employment, Culture - Society , Youth… in the Da Nang newspaper. At the end of each reading session, a representative from each class will share the content or lessons learned with the class.”

The "Reading the Newspaper in the First 15 Minutes of Class" movement helps students practice reading comprehension skills, develop presentation skills, and improve their logical thinking and critical reasoning abilities.

To increase interaction, the student groups proactively divided themselves into small groups of 3-5 students each to read newspapers, discuss, and take turns reading aloud to each other. This method encouraged collaboration, listening, and respect for each other's opinions. After reading, the students were responsible for neatly folding the newspapers and returning them to the library in the designated area.

Ms. Dinh Thi Mai Huong, a librarian, shared: “The campaign to read newspapers at the beginning of class was initiated at the start of the 2025-2026 school year. Through monitoring and support, I have noticed that the campaign has spread strongly among students. Not only do many students actively participate in reading newspapers during the first 15 minutes of class, but many also proactively register to borrow newspapers to read in their rooms in the evening. This is a very encouraging sign. In the future, the school will consider subscribing to more newspapers and magazines to meet the increasing reading needs of the students.”

Alang Ho Hiep Duc, Secretary of the Youth Union of class 12/1, shared: “Reading the newspaper every day helps us not only update new information but also understand more about our homeland and our people. In the Da Nang newspaper, I find many good articles about inspiring stories of overcoming difficulties and positive changes in the locality, which further motivates me to study hard and contribute to building our village in the future.”

Zơ Râm Thị Mỹ Nhi, a Co Tu ethnic minority student in class 10/2, shared: “In the highlands, because of the great geographical distance, students sometimes have limited access to books and newspapers. Now that I can read the newspaper every morning, I learn many new and useful things with information that is relevant to my life.”

Mr. Zo Ram Duy, Secretary of the Youth Union of Quang Nam Ethnic Boarding High School, hopes that after students access useful and positive information from mainstream media, they will be guided to think correctly and become more responsible towards themselves, their families, and the community.
