I hope the exam subjects will be finalized soon.
With just over four months remaining until the 2026-2027 10th grade entrance exam, the issue of the 10th grade entrance exam in Hai Phong is a hot topic of concern for parents, driven by the desire to secure a place for their children in a public school. Many provinces and cities have announced the third exam subject, with some even choosing a combined subject combination. Currently, Hai Phong City has not yet announced the third exam subject, leaving tens of thousands of parents and 9th-grade students anxiously awaiting the results.
Ms. Hoang Thi Xuyen (alley 143 Ton Duc Thang, An Bien ward) said that her eldest daughter is in 9th grade at Tran Phu Secondary School this year. During this crucial period of preparation for the 10th grade entrance exam, she is very eager to learn about the third subject. Since the beginning of the school year, the family has focused on Math, Literature, and English, but recently, some provinces have chosen the Natural Sciences combination for the 10th grade entrance exam, causing her to worry and look for extra classes for her daughter in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Nguyen Anh Tuan, a 9th-grade student at To Hieu Secondary School (Le Chan Ward), shared that he is enrolled in extra classes in Math, Literature, and English. In addition, he attends tutoring centers to reinforce his knowledge in preparation for the upcoming 10th-grade entrance exam. However, he is quite worried because he doesn't know the third subject for the exam. He hopes the remaining subject will be announced soon so he can have sufficient time to prepare.
Anh Tuan's wish is also the aspiration of thousands of students in Hai Phong. Bui Van Anh, a 9th-grade student at Trang Cat Secondary School (Hai An ward), expressed her worries: "To prepare for the 10th-grade entrance exam, I have developed a serious study plan. Besides studying theory in class, I also practice exam questions and hone my test-taking skills at home. Because the third exam subject hasn't been announced yet, I'm currently focusing on thoroughly reviewing Math and Literature. I still hope that this year the third exam subject will be English again because we have always focused on these three subjects."

The announcement will be made no later than January 30th.
Due to the pressure of the 10th grade entrance exam, in Hai Phong, right from the beginning of the school year, based on the registration preferences of students and their families, junior high schools have been building and arranging timetables, assigning teachers; reviewing, classifying, and organizing mock exams according to plan to assess quality and adjust teaching activities accordingly.
All junior high schools organize extra classes in accordance with Circular 29 for graduating students in three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and English. In addition, if students wish to study other subjects, the school will assign suitable subject teachers to meet their needs.
In reality, many families even enroll their children in extra classes outside of tutoring centers, offering 3 or even 6 subjects (Math, Literature, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology). However, choosing to study so many subjects puts pressure on the children and leaves them with little time for physical training.
Not only students and their families, but also schools and teachers are hoping for an early announcement of a three-subject exam for the 10th grade entrance exam. Ms. Tran Thi Kim Xuyen, Principal of Ngo Quyen Secondary School (Le Chan Ward), shared that the school hopes the Department of Education and Training will soon announce the third exam subject so that students and their families can feel at ease, and subject teachers can be more proactive in reviewing and guiding students in the best way possible. According to surveys of parents and students, the vast majority want the third subject this year to be a foreign language.
Mr. Do Duy Hung, Deputy Director of the Hai Phong Department of Education and Training, said that the department's leadership understands and shares the concerns and aspirations of parents, students, and schools ahead of the upcoming 10th grade entrance exam. The department's leadership has held meetings and directed the relevant departments to develop a plan to seek the opinion of the Hai Phong City People's Committee regarding the enrollment plan for 10th grade in high schools for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Department requests the Examination and Quality Assurance Division to promptly submit a plan for the 10th grade entrance exam to the Department's leadership for the city's approval, with the third exam subject to be announced no later than January 30th.
