Participating were 100 rice-producing farmers from the communes of Muong Bang, Tan Lang, Muong Lang, and Quang Huy town, along with local agricultural extension officers.
In 2019, the organic rice production model in Phu Yen district was piloted on 20 hectares in Huy Tan and Quang Huy communes by the Provincial Agricultural Extension Center in collaboration with Que Lam Group. For each production season, the district used local budget funds, national target programs, and new rural development funds to support the expansion of the organic rice cultivation model throughout the area, aiming for green and sustainable agricultural production. To date, the entire Phu Yen district has expanded the area of organic rice cultivation to over 720 hectares, concentrated in Quang Huy, Gia Phu, Huy Bac, and Muong Bang communes. Of this, 130 hectares of rice have continuously received national organic certification for five years.
Organic rice production not only improves soil quality and the environment but also yields significant economic benefits. Average rice yields reach 7 tons/ha, 1.5-2 tons/ha higher than traditional farming methods. The selling price of organic rice ranges from 25,000 to 30,000 VND/kg. Farmers increase their profits by approximately 8-12 million VND/ha and reduce input costs by 10-15%.
Currently, Phu Yen district is promoting digital transformation in agriculture. Many cooperatives have applied information technology to production, such as using electronic logbooks (Farmdiary, egap), QR codes for product traceability, and sensors to monitor field conditions.
Through field workshops aimed at promoting and introducing the outstanding effectiveness of organic rice farming models, the goal is to encourage farmers in Phu Yen district to switch to organic production, thereby promoting safe and sustainable agriculture.
