Pear trees were introduced to Ta Xua in 2017, when the Agricultural Service Center of Bac Yen district (formerly) implemented a pilot model of over 1,000 VH6 pear trees in Ta Xua commune. Thanks to the cool climate year-round, suitable for temperate trees, the pear trees quickly adapted and grew well. From the initial model, the area of pear cultivation in the commune has now expanded to over 30 hectares, mainly concentrated in the villages of Chung Chinh, Ta Xua, and Hang Dong, gradually becoming a valuable economic crop in the locality.
Early in the morning in Chung Chinh village, Ms. Song Thi Chu was already at her family's pear orchard. As one of the households that started growing pears early, with over 400 trees, Ms. Chu was busy thinning out the young fruit so the trees could concentrate their nutrients. Ms. Chu shared: "This stage is very important. If there are too many fruits, the trees will become exhausted, the fruit will be small, and the quality will be low. We have to thin out the fruit, apply organic fertilizer, maintain soil moisture, and regularly monitor for pests and diseases. Besides that, my family prioritizes safe pest and disease control, limiting the use of pesticides to ensure high-quality pears and protect the environment. With good care, each pear orchard can yield 2-3 tons of fruit, with selling prices ranging from 20,000-25,000 VND/kg."

Meanwhile, in Hang Dong village, Mr. Song A Mang's family is actively tending to their pear orchard, planted in 2023. Mr. Mang shared: "My family received support in the form of 200 saplings, planted on about 5,000 m² of sloping land. During the care process, my family regularly received guidance from technical staff on pruning, fertilizing, and pest control, so the trees are growing quite well. This year, our pear orchard has started bearing its first fruits."
To improve efficiency, specialized agencies have intensified guidance and technical support for the people. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Van, Director of the General Service Center, informed: "To ensure high yield and quality of pear trees, we have sent staff to the villages to directly guide the people on cultivation techniques at each stage. When people master the process, they are more proactive in caring for the trees, resulting in stable growth and reduced pest and disease problems. In the future, the center will continue to closely monitor the situation at the grassroots level, support the expansion of cultivation areas in suitable regions, and gradually improve the economic efficiency of pear trees."
With the support of specialized agencies and the initial positive results from production, pear cultivation is opening up many development prospects in the locality. With the advantages of the climate and unique highland landscape, pear orchards can become attractive destinations, drawing tourists to visit, take photos, and experience fruit picking. This will gradually form a production model linked to experiential tourism , increasing the value per unit of cultivated land.

On the misty mountain slopes, young pears are growing day by day under the diligent care of the farmers. With the right direction and the support of specialized agencies, pear trees are gradually asserting their role as a promising crop, contributing to increased income and improved living standards for the people of Ta Xua commune.
