Over 150 police officers raided the German Football Association headquarters.
Germany were eliminated by Paraguay in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup on Monday after a tense penalty shootout, thus suffering their first-ever defeat in a World Cup penalty shootout.
And that wasn't the last piece of bad news for German football this gloomy week.
Authorities are investigating allegations of favoritism and special treatment during Germany's hosting of EURO 2024.

According to the allegations, match tickets and hotel reservations were illegally distributed to a number of "privileged guests" during the tournament.
Bild reported that dozens of police officers conducted a thorough search of the DFB's offices.
Furthermore, investigators also simultaneously inspected numerous town halls and administrative offices in the cities that had hosted matches of EURO 2024.
Herbert Reul, the Home Secretary of North Rhine-Westphalia, declared:
"A football ticket is not part of anyone's salary."
He emphasized:
"Any public sector employee who engages in or expects to receive bribes will be subject to our investigation."
The minister also stated that major sporting events like the EURO depend heavily on public confidence.
"In particular, major events like the European Football Championship can only be successful when they gain the trust of the people, both in the sport itself and in the organizing bodies."
He affirmed:
"We will not let that trust be destroyed just because of a few invitations or tickets that were issued improperly."
These have truly been dark days for German football. Since winning their fourth World Cup in 2014, the "Die Mannschaft" have consistently disappointed at the biggest tournament on the planet.
Germany were eliminated in the group stage of both the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
And the defeat to Paraguay in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup will certainly be remembered as one of the biggest shocks of this year's tournament.
