Samsung touts the Galaxy S25 Edge as its thinnest smartphone ever, measuring just 5.8mm thick. The “beyond thin” tagline was highlighted during the launch, along with impressive specs like a 200MP camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and 3,900mAh battery.
However, Honor has taken a different approach to the design of the Galaxy S25 Edge. In the Magic V3 teaser, the company said that the device is only 4.35mm thick when opened, which is significantly thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Honor targets limitations on the Galaxy S25 Edge
Not stopping at the numbers, Honor also asks the question: "Why be thin if you have to compromise to achieve it?" Along with that, the slogan " THIN without compulsion" appears next to it as an implication that Samsung may have had to sacrifice battery capacity or other hardware components to achieve the slim design on the Galaxy S25 Edge. To emphasize this, Honor announced the Magic V3's 5,150 mAh battery, a significant increase over the Galaxy S25 Edge's 3,900 mAh battery.

While this comparison is somewhat unfair given that the Honor Magic V3 is a foldable smartphone whose thickness when opened does not reflect its configuration when closed, while the Galaxy S25 Edge is a regular slab smartphone, this marketing battle is becoming more common in the premium segment. Whether consumers care about battery size, style, or design philosophy, this competition shows that the race in the smartphone industry is getting fiercer, especially in 2025.
