Samsung advertised the Galaxy S25 Edge as its thinnest smartphone ever, with a thickness of just 5.8 mm. The slogan "breaking the limits of thinness" was emphasized during the launch, accompanied by impressive specifications such as a 200 MP camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and a 3,900 mAh battery.
However, Honor presented a different perspective on the design of the Galaxy S25 Edge. In the Magic V3 trailer, the company stated that the device's thickness when unfolded is only 4.35 mm, significantly thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Honor targets the limitations of the Galaxy S25 Edge.
Beyond just numbers, Honor also posed the question: "Why be thin if you have to compromise to achieve it?" Along with that, the slogan " Thin without compromise" appeared alongside it, implying that Samsung may have sacrificed battery capacity or other hardware components to achieve the slim design of the Galaxy S25 Edge. To emphasize this, Honor announced the Magic V3's 5,150 mAh battery, a significant increase from the Galaxy S25 Edge's 3,900 mAh battery.

Although this comparison is somewhat unfair, as the Honor Magic V3 is a foldable smartphone and its thickness when unfolded doesn't reflect its configuration when closed, while the Galaxy S25 Edge is a conventional tablet-style smartphone, this marketing battle is becoming increasingly common in the high-end segment. Whether consumers care about battery size, style, or design philosophy, this competition shows that the race in the smartphone industry is becoming increasingly fierce, especially in 2025.
