Following the concrete road from the commune center to the villages of Ta and Nong Xua, both sides of the road are lined with endless rice fields. The rice stalks, now ripening, have turned a light yellow, and a gentle fragrance permeates the entire field.
This spring, Mrs. Lo Thi Phin's family in Ta village planted over 2,000 square meters of rice, mainly glutinous rice varieties 87 and 97. Mrs. Phin said: "Throughout the cultivation process, my family regularly visited the fields, weeded, fertilized, and monitored for pests and diseases. When we noticed some areas of rice showing signs of yellowing leaves, we promptly sprayed pesticides, resulting in healthy and uniform growth. Currently, our rice crop is in the ripening stage and will be ready for harvest in about half a month."
Nong Xua is one of the villages with the largest area of paddy fields in the commune, with 42 hectares. Mr. Luong Van Minh, Party Secretary and Village Head, shared: Due to the lower climate of the village compared to other areas, the villagers often sow and plant later, so many rice fields are still green. Thanks to proactive measures to care for and control pests and diseases at each growth stage, the rice is developing well. To ensure irrigation water, the village has mobilized villagers to regularly maintain and protect the 8 already reinforced irrigation canals. For the remaining 5 earthen canals, the villagers regularly dredge and clear the waterways to serve production. The village hopes that all levels and sectors will pay attention to and support investment in building reinforced canals to better ensure irrigation water.

This year, Chiềng Hoa commune planted 115 hectares of spring rice, mainly using glutinous rice varieties 87 and 97. From the beginning of the season, the commune's People's Committee directed the villages to strengthen grassroots irrigation teams, effectively operate irrigation facilities, and raise public awareness about water use and protection. The commune currently has 35 grassroots irrigation teams with 175 members, managing and operating 46 irrigation facilities. The total length of the canal and water pipeline system is nearly 105 km, including 24.2 km of concrete canals, 0.9 km of brick and stone canals, 69.1 km of pipelines, and 44 km of earthen canals. From 2025 to the present, the commune has received investment for the repair and upgrading of 4 irrigation facilities, serving 15 hectares of rice paddies for two seasons.
In addition, officials from the commune's General Service Center regularly guide people in applying measures to control pests and diseases in rice crops, using pesticides according to the "four correct principles," and combining balanced and rational fertilization to improve production efficiency and protect the environment. Especially during the prolonged hot weather at the beginning of the season, the commune directed specialized departments and people to inspect irrigation works and regulate water resources appropriately, preventing water shortages for production. As a result, the entire area of spring rice in the commune is growing and developing well, with no area affected by drought.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: "Up to now, farmers have harvested about 4 hectares of spring rice. The average yield is estimated at 6 to 6.5 tons/ha, higher than last year by 0.5 tons/ha or more. It is expected that the entire spring rice area will be harvested by June; as soon as the harvest is completed, farmers will take advantage of the time to prepare the land for planting the summer rice crop according to the correct schedule."
The golden fields herald a bountiful harvest. The plump grains of rice are not only the result of hard work but also inspire confidence and motivation in the people of Chieng Hoa to strive for an increasingly prosperous life.
