Huawei launches ultra-thin folding laptop MateBook Fold Ultimate

Huawei has just launched its first foldable laptop, the MateBook Fold Ultimate, with an ultra-thin design and high-quality screen, priced from VND 86.43 million.

The Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate is the first commercially available laptop with a foldable display. Notably, it runs on the HarmonyOS operating system for PCs with its own chip inside.

The MateBook Fold Ultimate is equipped by Huawei with an 18-inch screen inside a 13-inch body thanks to its unique folding design. This laptop runs on the HarmonyOS PC operating system and can adapt to many different operating modes.

The device can open 90° and reveal a virtual keyboard, just like a regular laptop. It can also open completely, providing an 18-inch portrait or landscape display for working (with a built-in kickstand).

The MateBook Fold Ultimate weighs just 1.16kg and is 14.9mm thick when closed. When opened, the device is 7.3mm thick, and Huawei has used an ultra-thin PCB and a three-layer aluminum structure to make everything fit while still ensuring the machine's durability.

Additionally, the device also has a vapor chamber cooling system with two ultra-thin fans to cool the chipset. It's a bit unfortunate that Huawei hasn't revealed the CPU information of this foldable laptop model, but it will have 32GB of RAM and 1TB/2TB SSD.

MateBook Fold Ultimate for a fun user experience

The display on the Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate has a 4:3 aspect ratio when unfolded (3,296 x 2,472 pixels) and a 3:2 aspect ratio when portable (2,472 x 1,648 pixels). It's a dual-layer LTPO OLED panel that's an impressive 1,600 nits bright and has 1440Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. The dual-layer structure reduces power consumption by 30% and triples the expected lifespan of the panel. It's also protected by a non-Newtonian fluid and a carbon fiber support layer.

To top it all off, Huawei has also created a 5mm ultra-thin wireless keyboard with 1.5mm key travel for use with this laptop. It's made of aluminum alloy and weighs just 290g. The MateBook Fold Ultimate comes in three colors with different textures on the outside and a matching wireless keyboard.

The Huawei MateBook Fold Ultimate is equipped with a 74.69Wh battery inside and two USB-C ports (one on the top and one on the right). The device also has 6 speakers and four microphones, supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.2.

The MateBook Fold Ultimate 32GB/1TB version costs 24,000 CNY (about 86.43 million VND), while the 32GB/2TB version costs 27,000 CNY (about 97.23 million VND).
