(KGO) - On March 24, the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province announced that the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had signed and issued a document guiding the organization of sports and physical education congresses at all levels in the new situation.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province requested the Department of Culture and Sports and the People's Committees of districts and cities to continue organizing sports festivals at the commune level for communes, wards, and towns that have already planned and prepared for the sports festival in March 2025.

The organization of commune-level sports festivals is temporarily suspended for communes, wards, and towns that have planned to hold sports festivals starting in April 2025.

All preparations for organizing district-level sports festivals have been halted. Simultaneously, preparations for the 10th Kien Giang Provincial Sports Festival in 2025-2026 have been temporarily suspended for sports events scheduled for 2025.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Kien Giang province assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to take the lead in coordinating with relevant departments, agencies, and units to develop a plan and guidelines for organizing sports and physical education congresses at the commune and provincial levels immediately after communes, wards, towns, and provinces and cities complete the administrative unit mergers as directed by the Politburo and the Secretariat.

The deadline for organizing sports and physical education congresses at all levels is the end of May 2026.
