Promoting the new production movement
The vegetable garden, cultivated using a new process by the Hue Hydroponics Cooperative in Thuy Luong ward (now Huong Thuy ward), is one of the high-tech farming models. Accordingly, the model utilizes advanced methods and clean vegetable cultivation techniques designed within greenhouses, applying drip irrigation technology and Israeli cooling processes. The irrigation, fertilization, and ventilation systems are all automatically controlled via Wi-Fi.
According to Ngo Xuan Phuoc, Director of the Hue Hydroponic Agricultural Cooperative, high-tech agriculture has contributed to reducing pollution and responding to climate change through models such as growing plants in greenhouses or vertical farming. This has helped promote new production methods and raise community awareness about sustainable agriculture.
Along with greenhouse vegetable cultivation techniques, drip irrigation, and cooling processes based on Israeli technology, this cooperative's clean vegetable production model also utilizes hydroponics, a technique of growing plants in a nutrient solution, also known as growing plants in water or growing plants without soil. According to Mr. Ngo Xuan Phuoc, this clean vegetable production process yields nearly double the economic value compared to conventional production, due to market preference and trust...
The vegetable garden of the Hue Hydroponics Cooperative is also a high-tech farming model that is being widely applied and invested in in Hue City. This model includes agricultural production activities suitable for urban and suburban spaces, such as growing clean vegetables and ornamental flowers, as well as aquaculture and small-scale livestock farming. In reality, urban agricultural models in Hue have recently contributed to providing a source of fresh, clean food locally, reducing dependence on transportation from rural areas, and creating stable income and jobs for urban residents.
According to Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Le Van Anh, stemming from practical needs, most businesses in the agricultural sector invest in research and application of advanced scientific and technical advancements in production to improve productivity, product quality, and production and business efficiency. Along with high-tech crop cultivation, Hue City has been implementing many sustainable aquaculture models, applying ecological technology to protect the lagoon environment. The city is also making good use of its natural landscape and cultural heritage to develop agricultural models combined with ecotourism, organizing farms in suburban areas, combining agricultural production with tourism experiences, attracting visitors to learn about Hue's agriculture and culture.

Opportunities for development
According to the planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, Hue City aims for green and sustainable economic development, with an economic structure of services - industry - agriculture. Agriculture is identified as a pillar, especially urban agriculture, linked to heritage preservation and adaptation to climate change.
Urban agriculture is moving towards a modern, high-quality model with large project investments. However, Hue's current obstacle is the underdeveloped technical infrastructure, such as greenhouses, warehouses, and irrigation systems, which do not fully meet the needs of high-tech urban agriculture. Investing in high-tech agriculture requires significant capital, while many farmers and cooperatives lack the necessary skills and advanced technology. Another crucial issue is the market, ensuring outlets for products. The government needs to play a connecting role, finding outlets for high-tech agricultural products in high-end tourism establishments and exporting to demanding markets. This should be considered a key factor.
According to Mr. Le Van Anh, to develop urban agriculture, in addition to applying high technology in development, it is necessary to build a suitable agricultural research and technology transfer center, integrate urban agriculture into urban planning, prioritize the development of high-tech agricultural zones concentrated in suburban areas, and create agricultural production spaces linked to tourism. Furthermore, support the formation and development of high-tech agricultural enterprises; build high-tech agricultural zones and areas. Promote the development and replication of clean, high-value agricultural production models in ecological zones. Focus on training skilled management personnel and technical workers, encourage the private sector, enterprises, farms, and family farms to strengthen the application of science and technology and leverage internal resources to improve the productivity, quality, and competitiveness of Hue's agricultural products and specialties. Through tourism connections, such as ecotourism, culinary tourism, and traditional craft villages, the aim is to increase the value of agricultural production, thereby forming production linkages along the value chain...
