Integrating agricultural products into the global value chain.

From a very early stage, Dong Nai has leveraged its industrial development advantages to pioneer the development of mechanized and high-tech agriculture on a large-scale commercial basis. Simultaneously, Dong Nai has also early on oriented itself towards developing green, circular agriculture, targeting the global market.

Following the merger, Dong Nai is not only a "capital" of livestock farming, but many types of industrial crops and fruit trees are also among the top in the country in terms of area, production, and value. Accordingly, Dong Nai city continues to be an attractive destination for large domestic and foreign investors, forming a production chain linking livestock farming, crop cultivation, processing, distribution, and export.

Developing commercial agriculture

Following the merger, Dong Nai City boasts a large agricultural land area exceeding 1 million hectares. The city maintains its position as the "capital" of livestock farming nationwide, with a large total number of livestock and poultry. Notably, from a very early stage, the livestock industry has developed in an industrial direction, applying modern technology on a large commercial scale. Specifically, the total pig population currently stands at 3.94 million, with approximately 90% of the total being raised on industrial-scale farms using modern technology. The total chicken population is approximately 32.6 million, with about 89% raised on closed-loop farm systems.

Recently, during a working visit to Dong Nai, Le Hong Phong, Director of the Central Veterinary Hygiene Inspection Center II, remarked that Dong Nai is the "capital" of livestock farming, with the largest proportion of livestock production in the country. The livestock industry attracts many large domestic and foreign corporations and businesses investing in a closed-loop chain from feed production and breeding to farming, processing, and export.

With a total area of over 503,000 hectares of perennial industrial crops and nearly 99,500 hectares of fruit trees, Dong Nai is also the "capital" of many key industrial and fruit crops with export advantages. Key crops have been planned and clearly defined into concentrated production areas, specialized farming zones, and export-oriented products with high economic value, suitable to the natural conditions of each locality. To date, the entire city has formed more than 300 concentrated production zones. Many key products have large-scale cultivation areas, ranking among the top in the country, such as: rubber (over 285,000 hectares), cashew nuts (nearly 176,000 hectares), durian (over 23,000 hectares), and bananas (over 20,000 hectares)...

Farmers in the city are very dynamic and creative in applying scientific advancements to production, such as investing in new varieties, introducing new machinery and technology into production; and continuously expanding the area of crops that have been granted export codes for international markets.

Attending the ceremony to promote banana exports and agricultural product exports in Dong Nai in 2026, held in early April, Deputy Chief of the Southern Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Le Viet Binh, stated: In 2025, the export value of fruits and vegetables is expected to reach nearly 8.6 billion USD, an increase of nearly 20% compared to the previous year. Dong Nai is a leading locality in developing commercial agriculture, with many fresh fruit products already exported to major markets. The city of Dong Nai's efforts to promote the establishment of planting area codes, attract investment in packaging facilities, and improve quality control are helping the locality enhance its competitiveness and gradually meet international standards.

Meets global market standards.

Along with attracting investment in the industrial, commercial, and service sectors, Dong Nai has long been an attractive destination for many foreign investors in the agricultural sector. Specifically, in the field of crop cultivation and processing, there are Nestlé Vietnam Co., Ltd. (part of Nestlé Group), Syngenta Vietnam Co., Ltd. (part of Syngenta Group, Switzerland), etc. In the livestock sector, there are CP Livestock Corporation of CP Group (Thailand), CJ Vina Agri Co., Ltd. (part of CJ Group, Korea), etc.

In particular, many high-tech enterprises have invested in developing livestock farming in a closed-loop chain, from breeding to deep processing, supplying the export market. Many large corporations and enterprises have invested in large-scale processing plants for export livestock products.

The entire city currently has 194 registered growing areas covering 14,000 hectares, and 82 registered packaging facilities to serve exports to markets such as China, the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.

Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd. (Long Binh Ward) is a pioneering enterprise investing in a closed-loop chain from poultry farming to slaughtering and processing chicken meat for export to the Japanese market. According to Mr. Tran Nhon Hieu, General Director of Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd., the company processes an average of 1 million chickens per month. Of this, 300-350 tons are exported monthly, mainly processed products. The company is increasingly diversifying its products, currently offering about 40 types of processed products for export. In addition to the Japanese market, the company plans to expand its export market for chicken meat products to Hong Kong and European countries.

Nedspice Processing Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dutch-invested) operates globally in the processing and export of pepper and agricultural products. By 2025, the company aims to export approximately 28,000 tons of various spices and agricultural products. To date, the company has invested in two modern pepper and agricultural product processing plants in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Tam commune (Dong Nai province).

Mr. Jos van Gulick, General Director of Nedspice Processing Vietnam Co., Ltd., shared: In the coming time, the company will promote the export of agricultural products to large, demanding markets such as the EU, the US, and Japan… In the period 2026-2030, the company hopes to continue strengthening cooperation with the city government as well as localities in Dong Nai province to expand the safe organic pepper production chain to increase the competitiveness of agricultural products when participating in the export market. The company is looking to invest in more large-scale pepper processing plants in Dong Nai, linked to building a sustainable raw material area.
