According to the Steering Committee 389 of Dak Lak province, in the first five months of the year, retail sales and service businesses were vibrant, and the supply of goods was ensured. Both traditional and modern retail networks met the shopping needs of the people. However, crime and violations of laws regarding prohibited goods, the production and sale of counterfeit and smuggled goods, intellectual property infringement, and commercial fraud still occurred.
Individuals are exploiting digital platforms to advertise and sell counterfeit or imitation cosmetics and dietary supplements of unknown origin. The misleading information on social media and e-commerce platforms makes it easy for consumers to fall into a "maze" of low-quality products, directly impacting their health.

The total number of violations detected and handled in the first five months of the year was 1,702; of which 33 cases were prosecuted criminally involving 72 individuals, and 1,669 cases were subject to administrative penalties, with a total amount of 61,770 million VND collected through these penalties.
According to Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh, Deputy Head of the Market Management Department of Dak Lak province, in May, the Market Management force organized a peak month of monitoring, inspection, and handling of intellectual property rights infringements. Through this, they inspected and handled 25 cases, imposing administrative fines exceeding 647 million VND. The violations mainly focused on trading goods of unknown origin, counterfeit goods, intellectual property infringement, and business conditions. The violators mainly operated as small-scale businesses, selling goods through social media and e-commerce platforms, making inspection and handling difficult.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Team Leader of Market Management Team No. 6 (Dak Lak Market Management Department), in charge of market inspection and control in Tuy Hoa ward, during the peak month, the team assigned officials to closely monitor the area; inspected, detected, and handled 3 cases, imposing administrative fines of 18 million VND, and ordering the destruction of goods worth over 12 million VND; contributing to preventing and limiting violations in the field of goods trading, protecting the legitimate rights of businesses and consumers.

Ms. Tran Ngoc Tu, a representative of an accessories business in Tuy Hoa ward, shared that most small-scale businesses follow market demand, importing goods from other provinces without paying much attention to the origin of the goods. When selling to consumers, they mainly introduce products that suit their budget and needs. After receiving guidance from the authorities, I am more aware of my responsibility as a seller in selecting and providing quality products and guarding against counterfeit goods.
Intellectual property (IP) infringement is becoming increasingly complex, requiring decisive, coordinated, and long-term action. This includes not only intensive campaigns as directed by the Prime Minister , but also regular, continuous, systematic, and focused management, inspection, and control; strengthening coordination with local authorities; and disseminating information and raising awareness of IP law compliance among organizations and individuals in the area.
