On the afternoon of September 23, according to the Lam Ha Protective Forest Management Board (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province), authorities had just found a man who had been lost in the forest for 6 days.
According to initial information, on September 18, Mr. R Ong Ha Hoanh (78 years old, residing in Lang Biang Ward - Da Lat) drove a motorbike into the forest bordering Lang Biang Ward - Da Lat and Nam Ha Lam Ha Commune to pick mushrooms but did not return home. It was not until September 22 that Mr. R Ong Ha Hoanh's family went to the Lang Biang Ward Police Station - Da Lat to report the incident.
Immediately after that, the ward police asked all the people in the area to share information to find the lost 78-year-old man. Along with that, the People's Committee of the ward, Lang Biang-Da Lat ward police coordinated with Lam Ha protective forest management board (located in Phu Son Lam Ha commune) to mobilize nearly 100 people to search in the forest area.
When entering the forest, the forest rangers discovered Mr. R. Ong Ha Hoanh’s car parked in the forest. Immediately after, the authorities split into four directions to find this man . Following the traces of broken small trees and chopped banana tops, according to the forest rangers’ judgment, this man ate banana tops to survive in the forest.
In the early morning of September 23, following the man's trail, the authorities determined that Mr. R Ong Ha Hoanh was likely heading towards Nam Ha Lam Ha commune. Immediately after that, the local authorities of Nam Ha Lam Ha commune coordinated with the forest protection force to mobilize 50 more people to search.
Finally, at about 11:30 a.m. the same day, forest rangers discovered Mr. R. Ong Ha Hoanh sitting in the forest in poor health and with a cold body.
Immediately, the force brought food for this man to eat, used firewood to warm up and provided warm clothes and gloves to wear to warm his body. Immediately after that, the young men took turns carrying the man who got lost in the forest to the nearest commune health station.
From the motorbike parking location to the location where Mr. R Ong Ha Hoanh was found, it was 8km of forest road and 3km as the crow flies.
