Rodrigo De Paul is set to move to Inter Miami. |
To finalize the deal, the MLS team made a significant financial move, receiving $135,000 in "General Allocation Money" (GAM) from Portland Timbers in exchange for an international player slot.
This GAM (Gain Amortization) fund helps Inter Miami increase its wage bill and flexibility in the transfer market. According to the latest update from MLS, Inter Miami currently holds $2.078 million in GAM. This figure, plus the $135,000 recently received, brings the total fund to over $2.213 million – enough for them to activate the De Paul deal. According to regulations, clubs can use up to $3 million in GAM for transfer fees or salary cap reductions.
De Paul, a star who has won the Copa America and World Cup with Argentina, is expected to strengthen Inter Miami's midfield, which already boasts Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba. This signing promises to transform Inter Miami into a real force in MLS, especially in the upcoming second half of the season and the League Cup.
The "adjustment" of finances before the official announcement shows that Inter Miami is carefully planning to comply with MLS's strict salary limits, while also creating a major boost in terms of brand and professionalism.
