Inter thrashed Roma in a seven-goal thriller.

In the early hours of April 6th, Inter Milan annihilated AS Roma with a 5-2 victory in the 31st round of Serie A.

Inter are close to winning the championship.

The match at Giuseppe Meazza exploded from the very first seconds. Inter needed only a minute to break the deadlock when Marcus Thuram sprinted down the right wing and set up Lautaro Martínez for a close-range finish.

Having been dealt a cold shower, Roma gradually regained control of the game and responded with sharp counter-attacks. The visitors' efforts were rewarded in the 40th minute when Gianluca Mancini headed in the equalizer after a precise cross from Devyne Rensch.

However, the turning point came just before halftime. Hakan Calhanoglu unleashed a thunderous long-range shot from nearly 30 meters, restoring Inter's lead and dealing a major blow to their opponents' morale.

In the second half, Inter completely dominated the game. In the 52nd minute, the Thuram-Lautaro duo continued their impressive form with a superb combination, allowing the Argentinian striker to complete his brace and bring his total goals this season to 15.

Roma quickly crumbled. Just three minutes later, Thuram put his name directly on the scoresheet with a powerful header from a corner kick. In the 63rd minute, Nicolo Barella scored the fifth goal after a finish inside the penalty area.

Lorenzo Pellegrini's consolation goal in the 70th minute was merely a token of respect for Roma.

The 5-2 victory extended Inter's lead over the chasing pack to nine points. Coach Cristian Chivu's team is accelerating strongly and moving closer to winning the Serie A title this season.
