The Fars news agency reported on June 7 that Iran is currently collecting an average of $1.5-2 million from each ship passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Fars quoted Mohsen Zanganeh, a member of the Iranian Parliament's Planning and Budget Committee, as saying that Tehran has begun implementing a plan to charge a service fee to ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Accordingly, a working group has been established to implement the plan in coordination with the Iranian Ministry of Economy and Finance and under the supervision of the Supreme National Security Council.
