US-Iran: Peace or just a strategic lull?
US-Iran: Peace or just a strategic lull? The preliminary peace agreement between the US and Iran has temporarily averted the risk of direct confrontation between the two rivals who have been at odds for nearly half a century. However, with core conflicts remaining, the question is whether this current lull will pave the way for peace or merely prepare for a new round of competition.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched retaliatory attacks targeting US military bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan, after the US claimed to have attacked multiple targets in Iran.

Pakistan, a key mediator in the region, expressed "concern" over the escalation in the Middle East following a second consecutive night of US attacks and Iranian retaliation. Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi urged all parties to “abide by the ceasefire agreement reached and cease hostilities to open the way for dialogue and diplomacy.”

In an effort to solidify the temporary ceasefire agreement that began in April, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also attended “important meetings with Iranian leaders” in Tehran earlier this week.

Meanwhile, India called on the US to stop its series of "attacks" on ships near the Strait of Hormuz, after three Indian sailors were found dead following a US attack on an oil tanker linked to Iran.

"When the attack occurred on the Settabello, we strongly condemned it on behalf of the US. We believe the welfare of the seafaring community is paramount and these attacks must stop," said Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs .
