In an official statement, the Jordanian Armed Forces Command said that its air defense systems detected and neutralized five missiles before they reached their targets. The interception resulted in some debris falling to the ground, but no casualties or property damage were reported.
This is believed to be the first time Jordan has been directly targeted since the ceasefire between the US and Iran came into effect in April.

Earlier, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched long-range solid-fuel missiles at the Al Azraq base in northern Jordan. According to the Fars news agency, Tehran asserted that the attack destroyed F-35 fighter jet hangars at the base. However, Iran has not released photographic evidence to substantiate the claim, and there has been no independent confirmation from the US or Jordan.
On the same day, Iran further expanded its military activities in the region by carrying out drone attacks on US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait.
Iranian state media IRIB reported that the Iranian Navy deployed UAVs to attack the US Navy's 5th Fleet in Bahrain and the Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait.
In response, Kuwait activated its air defense system and announced that its defense forces were intercepting enemy airborne targets. At the same time, Bahrain issued a security alert and raised its combat readiness level.
There is currently no information on whether the Iranian drone attacks hit their targets.
The latest developments occurred just hours after the US launched retaliatory airstrikes against Iran, citing the downing of a US military Apache helicopter off the coast of Oman on June 8th. These successive military actions are raising concerns about the risk of a wider conflict across the Middle East.
