Tell the story of your country in your own way.

Integrating technology into the journey of exploring heritage, connecting tradition with modernity, is how the "I Love Vietnam" project, implemented by Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with technology partners, is telling the story of the country in a unique way. From the Lung Cu Flagpole to Ca Mau Cape, each interactive whiteboard equipped with a wireless connectivity (NFC) chip acts as a gateway to a vibrant treasure trove of cultural and historical heritage, accessible with just a touch of a smartphone.

After more than half a year of implementation, tens of thousands of check-ins and shares on social media have contributed to refreshing the travel experience, bringing a deeper sense of exploration to each destination.

One touch - a million connections

From technological check-in stations at millennia-old historical sites to a digital tourism ecosystem spanning all 63 provinces and cities, the "I Love Vietnam" project not only recreates history and culture through digital experiences but also infuses technology into every step of tourists' journeys of discovery across the country.

Upon first encountering the NFC-enabled interactive whiteboard at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ms. Nguyen Huong Giang, a resident of Ba Dinh district, Hanoi, was quite surprised by the innovative historical connection experience, combining modern technology and traditional culture. “When I touched my phone to the NFC board, the information appeared as if it were talking to me. It was history, but not dry and rigid; it was intimate and vibrant,” Ms. Giang said.

The "I Love Vietnam" project has made a strong impression not only on Vietnamese people but also on international friends. Muhammad Zaki Bin Abdul Ghani, Information Counselor at the Malaysian Embassy, was one of the special guests invited to the project's launch ceremony. He shared: "Although I haven't had the opportunity to experience it firsthand, through the information provided, I am confident that this will be an extremely useful tool, especially for foreigners, to better understand the history and significance of landmarks in Vietnam."

Mr. Zaki highly appreciated this initiative as a modern way of doing tourism, not only supporting information but also building cultural connections between Vietnam and the world.

Ambassador Kohdayar Marri of Pakistan to Vietnam stated that Vietnam is leading the way in using technology to spread its culture, "a model that Pakistan can learn from to enhance exchanges between countries." In a context where geographical boundaries are no longer a barrier, NFC touches serve as an invitation to open doors to connectivity.

After more than six months, nearly 200 NFC-enabled display boards have been installed free of charge in 63 provinces and cities nationwide, in collaboration with the Nhan Dan Newspaper. At each board, visitors can interact via their phones to receive multimedia information: from maps, videos, documentary photos, and cultural and historical stories, to features such as AI tour guides, personalized itinerary planning, reward points, and digital certificates. “We Love Vietnam” has quickly become a network connecting emotions and spreading experiences from individuals to the community.

Leveraging Vietnam's tourism promotion

In Thanh Hoa, a region with 858 historical sites and scenic spots, in addition to the Ho Dynasty Citadel World Heritage Site, two other prominent destinations have been selected to have NFC tags affixed: Ba Trieu Temple and Lam Kinh Historical Site.

According to Do Quang Trong, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa province, the "I Love Vietnam" project is not only a creative initiative between technology and culture, but also a major step forward in preserving and promoting heritage values in a modern way that is accessible to tourists.

In Quang Ninh, a region where natural and historical heritage intertwine over thousands of years, NFC stations have been installed at significant landmarks such as the Yen Tu historical and scenic site, the Quang Ninh Museum, the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area on Co To Island, and Tra Co Temple.

According to Nguyen Lam Nguyen, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh province: “This is a correct step to connect cultural depth with technological strengths, helping people and tourists not only appreciate the beauty but also understand the profound value of each destination. In particular, these stations are also linked to the maritime baseline, an important element of national sovereignty, adding strategic value in guiding tourism development and protecting the culture and history of border and island regions…”

The mountainous province of Lao Cai, home to over 25 ethnic groups, has also quickly deployed NFC stations at popular tourist destinations such as Quan Square (Sa Pa), Kim Tan Square (Lao Cai City), and Lung Po Flagpole (Bat Xat). Mr. Sung A Lenh, Deputy Head of the Lao Cai Provincial National Assembly Delegation and Member of the National Assembly's Law Committee, stated: "We clearly understand that sustainable tourism development must be closely linked to preserving cultural identity, enhancing tourist experiences, and effectively applying technology in destination communication. The 'We Love Vietnam' campaign is a smart approach by Nhan Dan Newspaper, helping to tell the story of Lao Cai in a more visual, authentic, profound, and engaging way. With this success, in the future, Lao Cai province will expand this model and develop destinations equipped with NFC chip boards such as the Lao Cai International Border Gate, Thuong Temple, Fansipan Peak, and Hoang A Tuong Mansion…"

Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Phan Linh Chi, affirmed: “‘I Love Vietnam So Much’ is a blend of traditional values and modern technology, ‘acting as approachable digital tour guides, helping young people understand and continue the national heritage with a new mindset.’”

Highly appreciating the dedicated and responsible initiative of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Ms. Linh Chi stated that the Vietnam National Tourism Administration is ready to cooperate, support, and create all favorable conditions for the project to be widely and effectively implemented in localities. The Administration is considering including the project in the group of exemplary initiatives in the smart tourism development plan for the period 2025-2030, considering it a prerequisite for forming a personalized experiential tourism ecosystem on a digital platform.

From an artist's perspective, conductor Dong Quang Vinh believes that each NFC station is a "source of inspiration" for artists to create: "Areas with NFC signs are not just for checking in, but places where artists find inspiration. We will bring those places into our music, so that international friends can learn more about Vietnam."

Comrade Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, and President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, shared that, besides the technological element, the overarching spirit of the project is "creating substantive connections between provinces and regions." With an NFC network covering all 63 provinces and cities, the "I Love Vietnam" project contributes to realizing the journey of "unifying the nation" in the digital age. It is a journey where every citizen, regardless of nationality or profession, can become an ambassador spreading Vietnamese identity.
