Having coincidentally met Roger Federer at a hotel in Hoi An, a Vietnamese tourist bought a lacquer painting as a gift for the legendary tennis player to commemorate his trip to Vietnam.
Businessman Le Dac Lam met Roger Federer on the morning of April 30th and presented the Swiss tennis player with a lacquer painting depicting a Vietnamese countryside scene as a gift. Lam happened to know that the tennis legend was vacationing at a resort near the center of Hoi An, so he asked some acquaintances to inquire about Roger Federer's permission to meet him and give him the gift, and Federer agreed.
Mr. Lam said the tennis player was "very friendly and courteous." When taking photos with guests at the resort, Roger proactively took off his glasses, smiled brightly, and shook hands with everyone. The meeting was brief because Mr. Lam didn't want to disturb the tennis legend's vacation.

Because he works in the tourism industry, Mr. Lam wanted to send a lacquer painting as a gift to Roger Federer to "impress him with Vietnam".
"People like Roger Federer don't lack luxury paintings, so I thought I'd give him something simple, something that would remind him of his trip to Vietnam," Mr. Lam said, revealing that he had to ask friends to search art galleries in Da Nang to find a suitable painting. Due to the tight schedule and the holiday, most galleries were closed, making the search a bit difficult.

Roger Federer came to Vietnam to participate in several sporting events in Da Nang, and afterwards he spent some time relaxing with his family at a five-star resort in Dien Ban town, about 6 km from the center of Hoi An.
On April 28th, several photos of Vietnamese fans posing with Roger Federer on a tennis practice court in Hoi An appeared on social media. A personal account named Le Thu Guillon, with 493,000 followers, posted a picture of herself checking in with the Swiss legend.
News of the legendary tennis player's trip to Hoi An has delighted his fans. Some fans left comments on tennis forums inviting him to stay longer and visit other cities.
