The organizing committee honored units and individuals with outstanding contributions to the organ transplant cause in Vietnam. |
The conference was attended by professors, doctors, and leading experts in the field of organ transplantation from Vietnam and several countries and territories; representatives from agencies, functional units, and many hospitals.
According to the conference's Organizing Committee, organ transplantation is the most miraculous thing in medicine and one of the 12 greatest scientific inventions of mankind in the 20th century. Since the first successful kidney transplant in 1992 at the Military Medical Academy, organ transplantation has become a routine technique in Vietnam, and the technical level has caught up with the world. Even the organ transplantation industry in Vietnam has had many achievements, making the world admire, despite starting decades later. In particular, since the early years of the 21st century, organ transplantation in Vietnam has had a large number of transplant facilities and a team of solid professionals. The transplantation of large organs in the abdomen, chest, cornea, limbs, bone marrow, stem cells, etc. has reached the level of countries in the region.
Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Nguyen Xuan Kien, Director of the Military Medical Academy, said that the conference was hosted and co-organized by the Academy and was a key activity in the 2024 Organ Donation and Transplantation Week. With the tradition of being a pioneer in the field of organ transplantation in Vietnam, the Military Medical Academy is currently one of the four leading centers for organ transplantation in the country and the Army. The Academy's organ transplantation cluster won the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Science and Technology in 2005.

In particular, in December 2022, the Military Medical Academy supported and assisted the Lao People's Army's 103 Central Hospital in successfully transplanting kidneys for the first two patients. This event is a historic turning point, opening a new page for the field of organ transplantation in Laos in particular and the Lao health sector in general.
According to Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Kien, the conference includes more than 130 quality scientific reports by domestic authors and 9 delegates who are professors and leading experts in organ transplantation in the world from countries with developed medicine with one plenary session and 15 specialized sessions on organ transplantation.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Xuan Kien emphasized that this conference is a good opportunity for scientists and medical staff to share research results, exchange expertise and share experiences in the field of organ transplantation with the ultimate goal of helping patients benefit from the most effective and safest treatment methods.
This is also an opportunity to pay tribute to previous generations of doctors who not only actively contributed to saving lives but also wholeheartedly passed on their passion for the career of "cultivating people" to their students and future generations of young doctors, especially in the field of organ transplantation./.
