Opening Ceremony of the 2023 Lotus Village Festival

On the evening of May 12th, at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City), the People's Committee of Nghe An province organized the opening ceremony of the Lang Sen Festival and the art program "The Mother of Lang Sen" to commemorate the 155th anniversary of the birth of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan and the 133rd anniversary of the birth of President Ho Chi Minh.

Comrades Phan Đình Trạc, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission; and Võ Thị Ánh Xuân, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice President of the Republic, attended the ceremony.

The art program "The Mother of Lang Sen Village" consists of three parts: From the hammock of Lang Sen Village; the noble lotus flower; and the radiant Vietnam. The program is elaborately staged, integrating various art forms to honor the profound humanistic qualities and values of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan and President Ho Chi Minh.

This year's Lotus Village Festival features many vibrant and meaningful activities, concentrated in Vinh City, Nam Dan District, and Cua Lo Town. Highlights include the Lotus Village Singing Festival with the participation of over 600 artists and performers from 21 amateur art troupes from various districts, cities, and towns; performances of folk songs and traditional arts; a thematic exhibition about President Ho Chi Minh; the "President Ho Chi Minh in the Hearts of Nghe An Youth" competition; a provincial volleyball and traditional martial arts tournament; a culinary competition featuring dishes made from lotus; folk games related to President Ho Chi Minh's childhood; and the Cua Lo Hot Air Balloon Festival 2023.

The Lang Sen Village Festival, held annually at the provincial level and every five years nationwide on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, is a significant political and cultural event. It expresses the gratitude and respect of the people towards President Ho Chi Minh – the national liberation hero and world cultural figure; promotes and educates on Ho Chi Minh's ideology; continues the "Learning and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh"; and introduces and promotes the culture of Lang Sen Village and Nghe An province to friends and tourists both domestically and internationally.
