Each residential group brings a creative lamp model, associated with the traditional cultural beauty or typical images of Son Tay ward such as the model of the Citadel, Va Temple, carp, dragon, phoenix, turtle, rooster, lantern, star lantern...
Judging criteria are based on creative ideas, lineup, costumes, props, lighting models, and introduction.
After the judges scored, the residential groups paraded their lantern models around the Citadel moat area along the route: Stadium Square - Phan Chu Trinh Street - Main Stage of the walking street - Pho Duc Chinh Street - Pham Ngu Lao - Le Quy Don - Nguyen Thai Hoc - Stadium and gathered to display at the main stage for people to visit.

Coming to this year's contest, children, locals and tourists can also watch lion, dragon and lion dance performances; participate in making star lanterns and lanterns; molding figurines; making moon cakes; playing folk games; taking photos of mid-autumn miniatures and visiting the creative space designed by Doai Creative, Phat Studio and artisans.
According to the plan, on the evening of September 20 (ie July 29 of the lunar calendar), the second round of the competition will take place with 19 teams (ordered from number 20 to number 38). On the evening of September 27 (ie August 6 of the lunar calendar), the third round of the competition will take place with 19 teams (ordered from number 39 to number 57).

The art program "Full Moon Festival Night - Mid-Autumn Festival of the Ancient Citadel - Son Tay Xu Doai" with the participation of the parade of 57 Residential Groups combined with the award ceremony of the Mid-Autumn Festival Lantern Model Contest will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 4, 2025 (ie Saturday, August 13 of the lunar calendar) at the Main Stage of the Walking Street of the Ancient Citadel of Son Tay .
The award structure includes 1 First prize, 2 Second prizes, 3 Third prizes and 5 Consolation prizes.
Through a series of activities of the program "Mid-Autumn Festival of Ancient Citadel - Son Tay Xu Doai", Son Tay ward hopes to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the Mid-Autumn Festival, contributing to educating the young generation about the history and cultural identity of the homeland of Son Tay - Xu Doai.

Organizing the program also creates a creative and healthy playground, encouraging the participation of all people, especially children; at the same time, fostering community solidarity through collective activities, bringing children a meaningful, joyful and warm Mid-Autumn Festival; caring for children in difficult circumstances, orphans, disabled children, children of policy families, helping them to have fun and develop comprehensively in a safe and friendly environment.
