Early this morning, over 80,000 spectators at the only stadium in the world to have hosted the opening match of the World Cup three times (1970, 1986, and 2026), along with millions of football fans watching live on screen, were immersed in a spectacular artistic atmosphere.
Opening the ceremony, host nation Mexico recreated the mysterious ancient Aztec civilization through the dance of hundreds of dancers in traditional indigenous costumes. Following this, the folk art of "Papel Picado"—a vibrant paper-cutting performance—covered the stands, symbolizing the warm welcome of the American people. The visual highlight was the moment a giant FIFA World Cup trophy slowly rose from the stage, shimmering under the lights, creating an unprecedented spectacle.

Pop superstar Shakira ignited the atmosphere at the Azteca Arena when she took to the stage with Nigerian rapper Burna Boy. This epic collaboration delivered the energetic melody of the theme song "Dai Dai" (Go On). With her hot dance moves and powerful vocals, Shakira once again proved her enduring appeal at World Cups.
The musical feast was further enhanced by the presence of the Mexican pop-rock band Maná, singer Danny Ocean, and the legendary classical vocalist Andrea Bocelli, creating a perfect blend of tradition and modernity in their artistic performances.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the atmosphere reached its peak when the host nation Mexico had a spectacular opening match, securing a convincing 2-0 victory against South Africa. The three points in their World Cup debut brought complete joy to the Mexican fans.
