Exploiting tourism advantages and potential.

Việt NamViệt Nam10/11/2024

The Department of Science and Technology has recently commissioned provincial-level science and technology research projects for 2025, seeking participation from organizations and individuals both within and outside the province. The successful completion and application of these projects will contribute to exploiting the province's tourism advantages and potential.

Developing Mui Ne National Tourist Area

With its potential and diverse tourism offerings, the Department of Science and Technology has proposed several research topics: Sustainable development of Mui Ne fishing village tourism in Phan Thiet city; Digitization of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in Binh Thuan province; and Research and development of a geotourism model for the Suoi Tien - Mui Ne area and Phu Quy island in Binh Thuan province. Accordingly, the research topic focuses on a tourism product chain model for Mui Ne fishing village, showcasing a dataset on demographic characteristics, resident attitudes, and factors influencing sustainable tourism development in Mui Ne fishing village. This model incorporates the participation of local people through sightseeing, experiencing local life, enjoying local cuisine , and showcasing local culture. The model introduces at least two community-based tourism tours of Mui Ne fishing village, each with 20 tourists, and receives high satisfaction ratings from visitors. Regarding the regulations for managing business operations and exploiting the Mui Ne fishing village model, the implementing unit has issued a framework of guidelines on the operation, coordination, and management of fishing village model activities to create a legal framework for tourism businesses to implement.

Meanwhile, the research topic "Developing Geotourism Models for the Suoi Tien - Mui Ne Area and Phu Quy Island" requires the construction of two geotourism models in these two areas, along with pilot testing of each model and proposals for geotourism development solutions for each area. The Department of Science and Technology also directed that the main outputs of the project should include a report assessing the tourism development potential of Binh Thuan province; geotourism models and products for the Suoi Tien - Mui Ne area and Phu Quy Island; geotourism maps of these two areas at a scale of 1/10,000; related geotourism tours; and a guidebook and training materials for geotourism.

The project, focusing on digitizing tangible and intangible cultural heritage in Binh Thuan province, requires the development of a data system and website network covering the most representative and distinctive types of tangible and intangible cultural heritage in the province. This includes digitizing ancient and representative artifacts at cultural museums and exhibition halls, and moving towards creating virtual reality exhibition and explanatory spaces within museums and exhibition halls. A 3D model and data system of artifacts and cultural heritage is also a key highlight of the project.

Create suitable tourism products.

“Through commissioning scientific and technological research projects, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with local authorities and businesses, will promote tourism promotion, marketing, and linkages. Specifically, it is necessary to strengthen promotion and marketing efforts, creating tourism products suitable for various tourism market segments. Selectively participate in tourism activities and events; propose the development of new tourism products; strengthen the development of inter-regional tours and routes to diversify tourism products; and coordinate tourism activities between provinces in the region so that the province's tourism truly becomes a seamless and highly competitive activity. At the same time, in tourism development, management agencies must prioritize environmental protection and maintain the existing natural ecosystem at tourist destinations,” said Mr. Nguyen Hoai Trung, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology.

Organizations, units, and individuals participating in the selection of tourism-related topics should submit their application dossiers to the Department of Science and Technology of Binh Thuan Province, No. 8, Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Phan Thiet City (via post or in person). The deadline for receiving applications is 5 PM on December 30, 2024.
