On June 4th, the Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that it had issued a document requiring travel agencies and tourism businesses not to organize, promote, or broker tours to the Mui Hoi area, Binh Ba Island, and Hon Chut (also known as Binh Hung Island), located in Nam Cam Ranh commune.
This area is located within the security and safety zone of the Cam Ranh military base, and has been prohibited from tourism development since 2015, as further affirmed in Decision No. 04/2025/QD-TTg dated September 30, 2025.

Despite the ban on tourism development on Binh Ba and Binh Hung islands having been in effect since 2015, many travel agencies still openly advertise tours to these areas.

Accordingly, travel agencies are urgently required to review and immediately cease tourism activities in the prohibited area; they are prohibited from organizing tours or advertising products related to Binh Ba Island and Binh Hung Island. The Khanh Hoa Tourism Association and the Travel Agency Branch are required to disseminate this information to all members, while the People's Committee of Nam Cam Ranh commune is responsible for inspecting and strictly handling organizations and individuals violating the regulations in the area.
The Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that the reason for reissuing the document at this time stems from the following reality: Recently, social media has been spreading a trend of tourism to Binh Ba and Binh Hung islands with the description "pristine islands only Vietnamese people are allowed to set foot on," attracting strong attention from young people. Despite regulations prohibiting tourism that have been in place for a long time, many small tours and individual travelers still openly operate through social media channels and websites.

Binh Ba Island, located in Nam Cam Ranh commune, is about 60 km south of Nha Trang city center. It covers an area of approximately 3 km² and boasts pristine beaches and clear blue waters. Binh Hung Island, just 1 km from the mainland, is one of four islands in the "Tu Binh" cluster, along with Binh Ba, Binh Lap, and Binh Tien. Their unspoiled beauty and proximity to the mainland have led to continuous illegal tourism exploitation despite the ban.
Previously, since 2024, local authorities had also requested relevant agencies to coordinate in removing all promotional information about tourism on Binh Ba and Binh Hung islands from websites and social media, but the violations have not stopped.
