(NADS) - On the morning of February 12th, at the Kon Tum Provincial Library, the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts organized the 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day with the theme "The Homeland Soars High," following the direction of the Vietnam Writers Association . This year's event brought many meaningful activities, connecting poetry with the public, contributing to spreading love for the homeland and country.
Special activities at Poetry Day
The Vietnamese Poetry Day in Kon Tum featured a variety of activities: a ritual of releasing poems into the sky, conveying wishes for a peaceful and happy new year; an exhibition of 23 poems accompanied by portraits and biographies of the authors; an exhibition of 50 works of art photography; calligraphy writing; and a discussion on poetry.
On the evening of the same day, the Lantern Festival Poetry Night was held with 20 special performances, including recitations and readings of poetry by the authors themselves, interspersed with other artistic performances. This was not only a platform for poets but also an opportunity for the public to enjoy and connect with the spiritual values that poetry brings.
Poetry – A bridge connecting the past and the present
Speaking at the event, Mr. Dinh Su Giang, Chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, emphasized the role of poetry in Vietnamese cultural life. He stated: "Vietnam is one of the countries that loves poetry the most in the world . Throughout history, many wise rulers and famous generals were not only skilled strategists but also talented poets, such as Ly Thuong Kiet, Tran Nhan Tong, Nguyen Trai... Poetry not only reflects the national soul but is also a sharp weapon on the ideological front."
Kon Tum, a majestic land in the Central Highlands, is not only a place that bears witness to many historical victories but also an endless source of inspiration for poetry. Here, revolutionary fighters imprisoned by the French colonialists transformed poetry into weapons of struggle, most notably the Tao Dan Prison Movement in 1930-1931. Those tragic poems live on through time, inspiring generations today.
Vietnamese Poetry Day 2025 – Blending Tradition and Modernity
The 23rd Vietnam Poetry Day is not only an occasion to honor poetry but also to connect literature and art with the public. It is also an event celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – February 3, 2025), the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Kon Tum province (March 16, 1975 – March 16, 2025), and looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).
The 2025 Vietnamese Poetry Day in Kon Tum concluded with beautiful memories, further motivating poets and artists to continue creating and contributing to life. Poetry, with the special power of words, will forever remain a bridge connecting the past, present, and future, carrying the aspirations of the nation to even greater heights.
